I believe the author just didn't think about how it would actually look like in movement when he decided to write that they put the flying unit into the belt, because yes it does look like he is punching his crotch. Maheshivara a buddist version of one of the principal deities of Hinduism Shiva, so yeah the enemy literally called him a god. Shiva being known as the Destroyer in the Hindu Trimurti while being known as "the Supreme Lord who creates, protects and transforms the universe" in Shivaite tradition. Must be really a horrifying experience to face him as an enemy, he simply points at someone and they disappear in a small flame, you kill his allies, he points at them and they endlessly rise from the dead. (Technically he isn't reviving them, "just" saving them from the verge of death, if death becomes an established fact even he is helpless) Material Burst directly converts matter into energy based on E=mc², the water drop was about 50 milligrams of mass, and got converted into about 1000 tons of TNT. When he targeted the flagpole he converted about 1kg of mass, creating an explosion of 21-22 Megatons of TNT ( 1 Megaton = 1 000 000 Tons). For comparison the nuclear bombs used in WW2 had yields of 15000 had 21000 tons of TNT. They have mentioned that their biological mother, Shiba Miya, formerly Yotsuba Miya (who is the older twin sister of their Aunt Maya), is dead when the stepmother came to "visit", talking about how their father remarried just 6 month after their mother died. More information on the family are in the latter half of Season 2 but especially in the "Reminiscence arc" movie/special and the upcoming Season 3 should touch on some more. Though we will only really get into the nitty gritty details starting with Season 4 if it ever happens.
