Ryuuji Gremory

Rudeus is still training with the sword, he paused the routine during his travel with Eris, but once he started training it found it's way back into his daily training routine. That said he hit a wall that he is incapable of overcoming. It was skipped in the anime last cour but Swordsmen in this world naturally shroud themselves in a form of mana called Touki or Battle Aura. It's what makes their superhuman feats (like Paul cutting through a boulder with a wooden sword at the start of the series) possible and it doubles as an armor making their bodies ridiculously durable once they master it. Rudy has a condition that makes him completely unable to use Battle Aura so no matter how much he trains he will never reach those superhuman levels, so even though he kept up his training all those years he never made it past intermediate rank. (being able to use Battle Aura consciously is the wall between Intermediate rank and advanced rank) Luke is technically capable of using Battle Aura but he too never made it past intermediate rank, a combination of lack of talent, different upbringing and lack of experience. So to Rudy with his experience hunting monsters on the Demon Continent or facing the likes of Eris or Ruijerd in sparring matches or fighting that North Saint or Orsted, Luke looks really slow to him.

None

I imagine you read the LN from what you put here, so did Rudy use his Demon eye in this duel? Anime didn’t seem to indicate he did, nor did it say he didn’t. Technically it wouldn’t be use of magic, just mana, right?

I wasn't sure anymore so I looked it up, he did use it, the novels say: “All right. Please be gentle with me, then.” I was going to use my Demon Eye of Foresight, at least. I didn’t want anyone to die accidentally. and after the duel Rudeus comes to the conclusion that: If I hadn’t used my Eye, we might have traded a few blows, but it was just as Ariel had said. He was no match for me. This is how the entire fight played out in the novel. He was slow. No—compared to the average person, he probably wasn’t that slow. He was probably about as quick as Linia, but still, slow enough that I could predict his movements. He was nowhere at Eris’ or Ruijerd’s level, never mind Orsted’s. He was probably a step behind Soldat, too. This was all he could muster, even with a magic item? Luke closed in, swinging his sword diagonally. “Hah!” His form was technically correct, and he was putting his weight into the swing. He wasn’t relying too much on his magical items, either. But he still moved much more slowly than my mental simulations. “Hah!” I aimed for his forearm. Sword God Style – Initial Strike, Arm Chop! It was a skill I’d learned long ago, a movement ingrained in me through hundreds of thousands of practice swings. “Guh!” The weight of my blade broke his arm in a single swing. He dropped his sword and it disappeared into the snow below. “Not yet!” Luke immediately tried to pick it up with his left hand. “No, it’s over.” I prevented him from grabbing the sword by slamming a foot into his chest, sending him flying. He went rolling through the snow. When he tried to get up again, I pointed my sword at him. “That’s enough!” Ariel’s exclamation ended the duel. “Grr!” Luke punched the ground with his broken hand, then groaned in pain and cradled his arm.

This new OP has spoilers even for Manga readers. Everyone who hasn't read the LN should probably just skip it.
