I think the Emperor was dissapointed in himself because even thow he is the Emperor the most powerful person there he can't do anything to protect them himself nd has to relay compleatly on others often after the fact.

Yeah even though his words are supposedly the words of heaven and just simple disrespect can be grounds for execution he is very much not free to do what he wants. Like for instance the Issue Jinshi brought up last week, about finding a way to not have to rely on Eunuchs to do the medical care in the rear palace, should be able to be resolved simply by the emperors word alone, but it clearly isn't that easy or Jinshi wouldn't have to worry about it. Or thinking about the fact that, as far as Maomao told us last season, until he was 29, when he went from crown prince to emperor, he only had Ah-Dou as consort. But now that he is the Emperor he has to take more consorts and make children, eventually even having had to remove Ah-Dou from the position of his consort because she can't have children and so can't become Empress, can't become Mother of the Nation. Even the most powerful man in the nation is very clearly still bound by tradition and politics.
