A good explanation of why The Fool can take damage but Iggy is fine is that Iggy's stand is the sand itself not the form that it takes, in other words each individual grain of sand is his stand, it's like having thousands upon thousands of tiny stands. Very few stands could straight up destroy the sand, only two from Part 3 that I can think of off the top of my head. One you've seen, one you haven't.
