Also, in the novel, there's a bit from Paul's perspective after he knocks out Rudy where Sylphie arrives with her dad just as he's loading his son onto the cart and she attacks him. With a spell that could kill a normal person. I had to chuckle but Paul's thoughts of 'Damn it, Rudeus. Don't go teaching her that crap...' got me thinking that while Rudy has the level-headedness of an adult Sylphie has that much power as an emotional seven-year-old.
