So I'm not sure, but what I think happened was Jun saw her as a girl for the first time in middle school with the skirt. After that he quit hanging with her for most of a year out of confusion for his feelings. Then he tried dating the only other girl he knew and it sucked, so he broke up with her and started hanging with Tomo again. He started ignoring that she was a girl because feelings, but he also became scary to other guys.
