Family, we're hitting the road in a couple of days, so for now we're bringing you a fun little Steve Reads to tide you over. You can expect an all new original short story by July 9th, and "The Ties That Bind," on July 30th.

We appreciate your patience and understanding.

Loved this. And learned some things!

Not only am I completely convinced that Steve could read the phone book spellbindingly, but after having been to a live show, I'll add that Landon Blood could use it as a tab sheet somehow and still have it come out amazing.

More Hoof and Horn, please! Very interesting

Heather Mendez

Where does one request Steve read something specific? What if he did Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil?

Just search cameo.com for Steve Shell. Sorry I’m traveling and don’t have time to look up the link. He’ll be happy to read your favorite passage.

Absolutely loved this. As time and energy permits I’d love to hear more from hoof and horn.

Edit: said kith and kin, not familiar and beloved. Also apparently didn't use my brain before asking 🤡. Just out of curiousity, what's the plan for familiar and beloved part 3? Obviously whatever y'all do is always awesome, but I am certainly keen to learn more about Vespertilio. He is a smart boy, after all. And of course, I have always been curious as to why a cat (especially a very much not ordinary one) ended up being named Bat. See y'all in Seattle!

Oop, I meant Familiar and Beloved of course. Derp. Oh yeah, that makes total sense. Producing something like that on the road, away from your studio, while doing a bunch of live shows, would not work at all (and wasn't expecting anything, just asking, and apparently didn't think it through that well). And for who's next: I guess, in my head, I wrongly remembered the pictures as being in that order and figured they must be following that (non-existent, wrong) order. Plus apparently my brain just decided, for some reason, that the one with the new character would be last. Oh Brain, you so silly. Anyway, then...looking forward to all of it! And excited for the show.

OMG! I know Dutchess Padriga from way back when she went to Miami of Ohio. I actually went to her graduation party! Small world!

Love this! I have friends who are good at writing Norse Jennings into various SCA elevation ceremonies. I'd love to hear more!
