Every October I re-read Dracula. It's one of my favorites. Unfortunately, I haven't dragged my battered old copy out of storage yet this month, so I can't show you a photo, but I assure you it is much loved.

What are your favorite Halloween reads, Family?

(And yes, I'm a day behind again, so there will be two posts today. –Cam)

ETA: Updated to include a photo. This isn't my copy, but I have the same edition with its fun and very pulpy cover.

I'm always reading Lovecraft, or listening to from Alexa. This year I'm reading A Night in the Lonesome October

VorpalRabbits

A Night in the Lonesome October, by Roger Zelazny. I've just pulled it out for my annual October read :) It's out of print, and I managed to find a hardcopy at a library sale a few years ago

Alex

I *also* re-read DRACULA every October! We should start a club!

Ray Bradbury's The October Country is one of my favorites every Fall.

Waterlylly

Zelazny's A Night in the Lonesome October.

Paul Meagher (Ma-her)

Washington Irving's 'The Legend of Sleepy Hollow'. The Disney version narrated by Bing Crosby scared the bejeezus out of me as a kid.

Paul Meagher (Ma-her)

Also 'The Night Wire' by H.F. Arnold, one of the creepiest weird tales ever written. Google and read if you've never heard of it, it's an hour well spent.

Flaz

Ghost stories are my seasonal favourites - almost anything by MR James is great for the autumn

WolfintheWoods

In the House in the Dark of the Woods. Quick, weird, deeply unsettling.

Artorielle

White is for Witching by Helen Oyeyemi

Jodi Quinn

October Country for me as well, and also Something Wicked This Way Comes.

Karen Brown

Something Wicked This Way Comes, and some of Poe's poems... Alone comes to mind.

GenuineVixen

Something Wicked This Way Comes, The Little Girl Who Lives Down the Lane, and the poem "Annabelle Lee" by Poe.
