I love the line from The Normal Heart too. It always reminds me of all the ways, big and small, that people like us have stood up to be counted. Whether it's the people on that list who made Queerness part of their legacy, the brick throwers at Stonewall, the marchers after Operation Soap here in my city, the Act Up activists who literally fought for their very lives, and every single one of us who choses to live openly within our families, our workplaces, our schools, our churches, and our communities. It can be an act of rebellion, yes, but it's also fundamentally about claiming our place. We're here. We've always been here. We're Connected. We're visible. We're never alone. And we're never, EVER, going to forced to be less than who we are again.
