So excited about this new reward for our creative club and above tiers! I hope these articles will help you with your creative career and that you will have fun reading them!

Today I share with you the first part of the series “How To Start a Sticker Shop”

and the first part is about the...

So I’m going to cover:

Supplies you need to make stickers

Supplies you need to ship your products

Other supplies I would recommend for a shop

Now let´s get into it 🧡

Firstly I will share with you what supplies you need if you want to make your stickers at home. You can of course also order your stickers from manufacturers if you don´t want to produce them yourself or just don´t have the time for it or the money for all the machines when starting out.

When I started my sticker shop I also ordered my stickers from manufacturers.

Possible sticker manufacturers that are good are for example:

Stickerapp

Sticker Mule

when you´re from Austria: Sticker Yeti

In part 2 of the "How to Start a Sticker Shop" series, I will talk more in-depth about searching for manufacturers for your products.

So now what kind of supplies do you need to make stickers at home?

The most important item you need is of course a good printer!

I use the Canon Pixma IP 8750, I´m quite happy with it but if I would choose a printer again I would rather go with an Epson Ecotank because the Canon printers just need soooo much ink.

When buying a printer please search for one that is a photo printer. I know they are expensive but your illustrations will get printed much more crispy & vibrant, so it´s worth the money!

Then of course you need high-quality Sticker Paper. I always used the PPD premium inkjet vinyl matte sticker paper for die-cut stickers. Recently they changed the paper and now it´s not as thick as before, so I´m also searching for another paper, but haven´t found a better alternative now. I know that some other creators are using the JOYEZA Premium Printable Vinyl Sticker Paper but unfortunately, it´s not available on Amazon in Austria atm so I couldn´t try it.

So and now you can either cut your stickers by hand with scissors (what I also did for a while) or you get yourself a Cutting Machine.

I now use a Cricut Machine - the Cricut Maker to cut all my stickers, but you can also use a Silhouette Machine. I heard from a lot of other creators that it´s much easier to cut sticker sheets with a Silhouette machine.

Then I would also recommend buying a Paper Cutter if you want to print things like thank you cards or backing cards at home.

And that´s kinda everything you need to start making stickers at home :) Of course, this doesn´t include drawing software like photoshop or procreate and a tablet.

Supplies you need to ship your products

Now let´s talk about the items you need to ship your products to their new homes.

Of course, you need Mailers or Envelopes to ship your products. I use Envelopes for sticker orders and Mailers for orders like prints so that they don´t bend.

Then I also like to use Paper Bags or Tissue Paper for packaging.

You also may need Cellophane or Glassine Bags if you want to make sticker sets. Or you make your own plastic-free packaging for your sticker sets if you want to sell some.

Then I also use a Ribbon for packaging, everything just looks so much cuter with it.

The last thing you need is a Scale to weigh your envelopes/mailers to know how much the shipping will cost.

Other supplies for a shop that I would recommend:

Business Cards

Thank You Cards

Packaging Stickers

Packaging Tape

Freebies

Hopefully, this gives you a bit of insight into what you need to start a simple sticker shop and gives you the confidence to give it a go!
