Chicken Illustration Walkthrough (Patreon)

A quick walkthrough of my latest illustration of a cute little chicken!

I am super inspired lately by our chickens as they are now running around everywhere since we decided to open up the fenced chicken coop for the to give the grass inside time to regrow.

The process of this one went like this:

First I sketch my cute chicken

Then I reduced the sketch layer's opacity and play around with colors to find the right ones. Picking the right colors is so important! 

Then I start to fill in the base colors

After that, I draw the first layer of textures and also already add the face

Then I add linework to the chicken and another layer of textures and also shadows. Here I also drew the clover leaves.

Next, I added light and cute round cheeks.

Lastly, I draw the shadow on the ground, add a bit of grass, and also stars around the chicken!
