I found a way to contain most of the quality for gifs using Photoshop. Rendered this one with a different light and background and increased little bit the polygons to make the mesh look smoother. :P

It's kinda scary how realistic that looks. (In a good way.)

Planning to do one from the front as well? Seeing how fluid this looks I'm just infinitely curious now.

Hmmm, that's kinda like a raptor's tail; very stiff. I don't know; do those creatures have stiff or limp tails?

Surody

Yea I know it's a little stiff. I'm still working on that.

Surody

Can do that. The only issue is that you can't really loop facial animation in like a second and make it look good. I only render like 1 sec worth of frames for this loop.^^

DezzieArts

Ah! See, I'm just not all that familiar with the limits of the technology.

I associate the raised tail with happiness (or perhaps arousal). Sort of along the lines of how a dog or cat raises their tail when happy or curious.

It might also be a problem with the angle at which the tail inserts into the coccyx (tailbone). Instead of inserting horizontally, perhaps it should attach vertically, from the tip of the tailbone, sweeping downward, then coming up.
