Project Chastice and A Succu(lent Bond) update: I did make progress on both projects. I rendered out more shots of Project Chastice and did some ground work for both projects going forward which includes simulation tests, character conversion from Daz Studio to Blender and a bunch of other technical aspects. I didn't make as much progress on Project Chastice as I was planning and that's why I paused the next charge. I got a bit too much distracted this month (I swear I don't have ADHD, I think, I hope) but I want to push both projects in terms of animation heavily this month and provide WIPs weekly. Since I already have shots for Project Chastice rendered I want to post the next WIPs in a couple days. Not everything I worked on or did tests with is visually represented here but it covers a decent amount of it.
A "little" explanation for everything:
The succubus images is me rendering the character in Blender. I had to convert the character to Blender and changed some things by doing so. For example does she have a bit more skin detail now which will be better visible with extreme close ups.
While rendering the succubus image, I didn't feel fully satisfied with the breast squish and went a bit on a squish sculpting training digression, mostly focused on breasts for now. I still have to figure out how to do it the best way and get better at it but it's already a improvement than having the body not react to tight/small clothes at all I'd say.
I also took some time to check out Iclone and the character creator. The characters look nice but I probably prefer the ones I'm already using. I'm not really able to do transformations with them either so it's not really a option. They take less resources than the characters I already work with though and because of that I might use them as background characters for future projects with a lot of them.
The left to right walk to the pole is a animation test with a character creator character. I bought a addon for Blender which allows me to transfer animations to the rig. Useful for preset animations and mocap. I won't animate everything by hand, especially walking and some other "generic" motions will be mostly presets and this helps to speed up and expand my workflow.
Because the character creator characters look quite nice even just in textured mode (not rendered) I took some time and checked out the Blender EEVEE render engine a bit more. It's basically just a few seconds to render per frame and therefore WAY faster than the more realistic render engine 'Cycles'. I managed to make it look pretty decent (take a look at the T-pose character in the room). If possible I'll stick with the more realistic render engine for my main projects but it's a nice option to render quickie animations where I don't really have the capacity to render the animation a month.
Because I'm watching the new Moon Knight show by Marvel currently I got the itch to do some egyptian looking lady as a little pin-up and compositing training and then I was thinking "How would I animate the hair?" and proceeded to do some tests and made it work. It's not as easy as "just" hair because there's metal objects on it. The same technique also works with chains, ropes, earrings etc., in short really useful for the future.
All the TG CGI transformations I saw recently on Netflix (In From the Cold), Amazon Prime (The Boys) etc. had rib and spine details during the change and I think it adds another layer of detail to the transformation. I did some morph tests (as you can see on the grey/white image) and some simple animations tests but I didn't render it out because it was mostly just a linear change. I'll do something more complex for my projects and I want to include it in the upcoming animations I'm currently working on.
The black smoke animation is some testing and fine tuning for a sequence in the Succu(lent) Bond project. (Don't worry, I won't cover the changes in black smoke :D)
Last but not least I did some minor cloth animation tests in preparation for the Succubus Project and Project Chastice. (The robe animation was part of those tests)
If you actually read everything, thanks for reading. xDAs always thanks for the support, stay healthy, stay safe and enjoy the rest of the week. ♥♥
