- Try not to post a "vegan dough" recipe online if it contains eggs.
- Instead of blaming a whole cuisine by whining about how "Indian Food is Too Complicated", consider the fact that maybe you're just bad at it.
- Be grateful for those who oppose you. I can't keep passively investing without a big group of active investors, and I can't keep ordering all-flats wings without a big group of drumette preferers.
- As the weather cools off, our ovens get more active. Next time you plan on roasting some root vegetables or baking bread, consider swiping an imperceptible layer of oil onto your cast iron or carbon steel cookware and using a free oven rack to tack on an extra layer of seasoning. Not only is this a low-effort means of cookware care, but the hunk of iron in the oven will help to keep your oven at a steadier temperature for a longer time. (I only bother doing this if the oven will be at 450 or higher for more than half an hour)
- Mustard is an emulsifier. If you've been making homemade dressings without a squirt of mustard, prepare to be amazed by how much of a difference it makes.
- If you store a lot of backups, photos, Dropbox files, movies, or files, consider a NAS.
- It's impossible to decode the plant return policies for big box hardware stores, so you have to figure it out with a series of tests. In an n=1 experiment yesterday I discovered that Lowe's will not accept a mesquite tree return if all you have is the pot and the receipt, but they will accept the return if you put any old twig in the pot and treat it like all that remains of the original tree.
- Replace the phrase "quote unquote" with "so-called" in daily conversation as often as you can.
- Cuffing season begins once your coconut oil solidifies.
