Fruehauf 5000G Tanker – ATS 1.61 Update Review (Patreon)
Content
The Fruehauf 5000G Tanker has received a major update for ATS 1.61, featuring an extensive rework of its textures and materials alongside major improvements to cargo weights, tank capacity, hazardous-material data, chassis configurations, and cargo availability.
Major Texture and Material Rework
The biggest visual improvement in this update is the complete overhaul of the tanker’s textures and materials. The Various surfaces throughout the trailer have been rebuilt and refined to provide sharper details, more realistic reflections, and a cleaner appearance under different lighting conditions.
This was more than a simple compatibility update. A significant amount of work went into improving how the tanker looks and reacts to the game’s lighting, bringing the overall visual quality closer to the standards of my latest releases. Adobe substance painter for the win ounce again.
Realistic Tank Capacity and Cargo Weights
The tanker’s capacity was previously inherited from a 53-foot dry-van definition, resulting in an incorrect capacity of 112.56 cubic meters. All 12 tanker bodies and both trailer definitions have now been corrected to:
18.93 cubic meters
5,000 US gallons
Cargo densities for all 22 supported chemicals have also been replaced with real-world values. This allows the game to calculate more realistic cargo weights based on the tanker’s actual capacity and the density of the selected chemical.
Cargo weight limits have also been added for each chassis configuration:
Tandem: 21,930 kg maximum cargo weight, based on an 80,000-pound legal gross limit
Tri-Axle: 23,750 kg maximum cargo weight, based on an 86,000-pound permitted gross limit
The tri-axle chassis weight has also been increased to properly account for the additional axle.
Cargo Economy and Availability
All 22 chemical cargos are now priced at a consistent rate of $3.29 per ton-mile, creating a more balanced and predictable cargo economy.
Cargo loading times have also been adjusted for greater realism, while company and delivery configurations have been completely reviewed. A total of 179 invalid company entries were removed where the same company was incorrectly configured to both produce and consume the same cargo.
These changes should result in more believable cargo availability and more realistic job generation throughout the game.
Hazmat and Placard Corrections
Hazard classifications, placards, and cargo data were reviewed across the supported chemical lineup.
Corrections were made to:
Hydrogen peroxide
Dimethylformamide
Formamide
Hydraulic fluid
Propylene glycol
Incorrect ADR classifications, hazmat placards, and UN numbers were corrected or removed where necessary.
The obsolete hazsign accessory requirement was also removed from both chassis. Placards are already supplied directly by the cargo models, and the previously referenced accessory definition no longer existed. The photos speak for themselves. I absolutely fell in love with this mod all over again after seeing the results of the texture and material rework. In the final photo, the tanker can be seen paired with the FLX 359.
