Hunting & Foraging mod update is on the way but not yet 😅 (Patreon)

Hello everyone!

Just a quick post to let any of you who are waiting know that the hunting & foraging mod update is coming! I’m just trying to make sure it’s ready for the Claire’s medicine box new mod that is in the works (which will bring back the buffs with an injury/sickness system and medicines to craft - this will be mostly base game).

I still don't have a date set yet but I’m making good progress and have been keeping an eye on your messages about the bloopers and requests so if there’s anything that comes to mind make sure to post it in the channel or comment here or on the other post 😊💚

Yay! Happy to hear! I'm wondering will there be an update on your medieval cookbook? It doesnt work, and my medieval sims are starving 😂 I had to buy a base game stove for them until its updated and cant wait to use the cookbook again. Love your stuff, so grateful for everything you make!

Hmm I haven’t had any issues with the cookbook in game myself.. it’s been working with the custom hearths too. I’ve fixed the missing tea menu which I will be updating soon (I’m actually working on some new recipes which is delaying the update so I don’t have to do it twice 😅) Could you try re-downloading? Is it via the book or hearth that isn’t working? Do you have the fires require wood package?

Could there maybe be option to dig up worms to be used as bait for fishing in future? There is already dig up action in game for items and stuff and using baits for fishing,also there seems to be worms in gardening plants if not taken care off. There was Reddit post after googling sims 4 worms

You haven’t? Oh, that’s good news, then I must have done something wrong on my part! My problem is through both the book and hearth. I do have the fires require wook package yes, should I remove it? What happens is that everytime my sim tries to cook with the cookbook, she starts the process (cooking, adding a log to the hearth, adds the pot to the hearth), but in the middle of the process, she stops the task with the food on the hearth. When I click «resume gruel» for example, she gets this bubble over her head as if she can’t access it, even though she was just there preparing food on it and the task cancels, making it impossible to finish the cooking. I have tried different custom hearths, it just gives the same result.

Your mod is one of 2 other mod creators' mods that are a MUST in my Castaway playthrough. I can't start it until the mods I use are updated. I'm not trying to rush you, but I'm so anxiously waiting for this. Time is necessary to iron out all the bugs, and to make sure it'll be ready for that other mod. Keep us posted.

Good news. Thanks for all your hard work. Are we still waiting on the cooking mods etc? I know this update really messed things up for modders.

Thank you so much for your mods (Please take as much as time as you need, they are amazing and the hard work really shows!), I'm now heavily playing with this one and absolutely adore it ❤️ Could you please add medicine for pets to the new mod as well (without the veterinary skill)? I'm playing as a hermit, but my fox (dog) is sick all the time. 🙈❤️

Could you check if it's due to a mod conflict? Is it happening with all recipes? Do you have the off the grid cooking small fix I made (if you're cooking off the grid)

The medieval cook book should be working as usual (minus the tea menu which will be fixed for the next update as I'm also adding some new recipes)

I saw that there's not meant to be issues with any the medieval cookbook, but I'm having an issues where my sims will make the food, but bug out when they go to eat it, and I have the off-grid helper and I have the doesn't require wood, are there any mods that are specifically interacting badly?

I'm not sure what would be causing sims to not be able to eat the food. I would recommend removing all other mods to see if the issue is still there, then trying the 50/50 method to narrow down any potential conflicts. If you get any error reports you can send them in my discord channel and i can take a better look :)

My game is doing something similar; The sims won't finish making any of the (Edit) STEWS . I don't have enough ingredients to make meals, etc, but they've made gruel and pottage in all sizes just fine, but for soups, they chop stuff up and then the food disappears from the chopping board. I haven't gotten any exceptions, so I'm not sure what to do! I was just checking to see if I'd missed an update on something.

Hi sorry they're not working for you. Just to check, you have the latest Homestead Helper mod as well as the newest cookbook and recipes? If you are playing off the grid you will need my off-grid helper mod so that some of the recipes work correctly whilst off the grid.

I'm sorry, I did need to download the newest version of HH, I checked before I commented, and thought I saw the old date on it. Thank you, I just downloaded it. That was actually the first time I was able to make anything other than gruel and was so sad for my sims lol!

How to install the mod I have tried several times and it doesn't show everything it should

Hi! So when downloading the zip file you will need to extract and place the Hunting and Foraging folder into your mods folder. Inside there is the MAIN.package (you need this one for everything else to work) and then inside each sub folder there are different packages - you can delete the ones you don't want. In game you can find the Sign Post + Hunters table by searching LBB or under activities. For the Sign Post, certain activities will only show on certain times/days so not everything will display under the pie menus at once. Is there anything in particular that you're having issues with showing up?

As much as I don't like plugging other modders on someone else's page, but Brazenlotus & DownInSimsLand are 2 modders that I must have as well for my Castaway playthrough. BrazenLotus for their crafting (Preserving, harvesting, etc.), which compliment LBB's mods perfectly; and DISL for their Castaway/Survivor mods. Including LBB's, each have their own wood gathering mechanic, which I don't mind using. I'm trying to learn how to combine the wood they gather so they all work together, but it's not easy, since I never modded before.
