🚨 Please remember to keep a back up of your save files.

This mod is an ongoing passion project and things will change along the way.

How to install & play:

Download the .zip folder, unzip and place into your mods folder.

Make sure to have the MAIN_Hunting Foraging Mod .package file

Inside are sub folders containing 'pick and choose' add ons for each area. Simply delete any you do not want to have.

All the interactions are found by clicking on the 'Sign Post'.

There are 4 'Areas' to explore:

I have created a guide handbook to showcase what you can do with this mod and to help visualise better what your sims can do - it's a bit messy but the general information is there. If there is anything you would find useful to be put here please let me know.

Additional Optional Mods:

Fires require wood - overrides in game campfires/bonfires/fireplaces to need foraged wood to light.

Weeding harvests dandelions & nettles - overrides in game 'weeding' of plants so that your sims can also harvest some extra ingredients.

Cut and Wrap Fish - overrides fish so they can be cut into multiple 'wrapped fish' ingredient depending on the size of the fish.

Claires Medicine Box - to add injuries & medicines

Oh love it all, but would love a little more medieval version, I would love that you could send your sim to sea for a week (or 4 days for UDC) and would earn money as well as bring fish, and if that week there would have been a storm, there would be a chance of sim dying in a shipwreck.

there is no cooking/recipes/ovens in this mod at the moment, but LBB will work on that and it will come back

I have the main file in there along with the add ons but when I click the sign post, I don't have the options. Isn't it the sign post that comes with the cooking mod or did I overlook something?

This is a remade standalone version. It's now separate from the cooking (which has not yet been updated) but the ingredients can still be used for cooking recipes. Are you missing all the options?

Hello Lbb Thank you for this wonderful mod. I can see the extent of the work you've done. I would like to know if it is compatible with the Grannies cookbook? do you intend to make a book for old recipes like the one in the Ye old cookbook kit mod? Thank you for your mods.

I might be dumb for asking this, but if I wanted to incorporate this new version while still keeping the oven and recipes from ye olde cookbook, would I just replace the 5. Sign Post with the new hunting and foraging package?

I can't kill critters .. not even pixel ones. That said I admire all the work you put into this. Can one play this with no meat? No killing? Pescatarian type play.

I wouldn't recommend it as some players have had some issues.. I'm aiming to get a fixed version of the cooking out by October so everything is completely working again.

You can remove the Hunting package which contains everything with the animals & meat and just use the foraging and any other features you'd like!

Sorry for slow reply. I'm working through doing a few fixes and updates for the recipes in the ye olde cookbook kit and moving them back to their own cookbook (medieval ish book) And then once that's done i'll be adding new recipes to it 😊

I'm sorry, but how do I make flour? I've got seeds, I've got acorns, I've got all the mods (tried the homestead helper basket, even tried ye olde cookbook stove and grannies old cookbook), but I cannot find the option anywhere. I feel like I'm missing something obvious

Nvm I'm silly! If anyone else has this problem, make sure you download the particular homemade ingredient "flour" and whatever others you need!

Does hunting and foraging affect the fitness levels or weight of the sims? I have noticed when I send them hunting, mining, or foraging when they come back their weight has dropped down as low as the slider can go. I fix it in CAS, and at first I thought it was because my sims had high metabolisms, but it happened to my child sims too. Weight slider dropped all the way down immediately after foraging.

I totally was just missing something! I figured out you need to go to Events and Activities in the Forest haha. Out of curiosity, would you happen to know why the wood you collect doesn't seem to be able to go into the wood pile storage object by Brazen Lotus? Pretty much anything else is able to except the wood!

would you ever consider making a storage object for the wood harvested in this mod? i have a wood storage rack from brazenlotus but wood from your mod cant go in there (or any storage object it seems)

Everything seems workable with the 19th's patch save the crafting table, which is throwing last exception errors. The signpost is fine. I don't know what's going on there.

Hiya! new to this mod, but last exceptions is showing errors with the hunting option and nothing else? when I remove it I get no more errors but i'd really like the hunting option, let me know what you think could be going on! otherwise your mods look fantastic cant wait to play with them! :)

Would you consider making a version that just has forging and hunting activities? without the other medieval Esque activities? I'm looking for something for my very wolf lifestyle-oriented werewolf and I love this mod but don't want the extra options :(.

You can delete all the other packages for whatever you don’t want. Just keep the main sign post and the forest hunting, foraging packages (and hunters table if you’re wanting that) 😊

I have a question about animal bait! Are they similar to ingredients with cooking where they’ll automatically be used when hunting or is there an interaction you have to do with them to work?

Hi! So at the moment, if you leave the bait you want in your sims inventory it will help increase the chances of your sim bringing home that animal (I may change this in the future)

hi! i really love this mod but somehow my sims never bring any animal home after i send them hunting and i always put animal bait in their inventory ,how can i fix it?

Is this still happening after updating? This update should fix that but if it’s still not working for you can you send across what packs you own and what packages you have installed over on my discord? Thank you ☺️

Heya. Maybe I'm a bit confused. If we do have seasons do we still need the two separate files as well now?

Hi! I'd recommend still swapping out the old ones with these new files so that you have the most up to date versions available. It's mainly to remove the seasons requirement that was effecting players who didn't have seasons. You shouldn't notice any difference with you having the pack anyway. ☺️

Hello! i just downloaded the Hunting and Foraging mod. But I'm having issues with the cut meet part. It doesn't shows me the option. I mean i can hunt it but i cant cut it . I delete it and installed again and even i take out all my other mods but i still have the same problem. Does anyone knows how to fix it?

I have a question. When hunting animals I sometimes get animal pelts and it says it can be used as crafting thing that need wool, I tried to see if it works with nifty knitting but it doesn’t count towards anything. Is there an add on I need for the animal pelts?
