Dear Patrons,
one of the biggest goals I had for Mods Studio 2 is finally completed! The 3D previewer is back!
Originally made by Cadde for the first iteration of Mods Studio, the 3D previewer was a masterpiece of software development. It revolutionised the skinning process, and many of our users couldn't imagine going back to skinning trucks without the 3D preview. Unfortunately, over the years, SCS has updated the format of their files, and our preview tool became obsolete. I estimated that the rewrite of the previewer would be a big project, so I have left it for when Mods Studio 2 was feature-filled and bug-free to a point where I could leave all other development and dedicate all my time to this big project. Indeed, this was a big project, but very very satisfying one.
I'm glad to say, we now have a working 3D preview. It has exactly the same functionality as it had in Mods Studio (1). We would very much like your reactions and input before we continue adding and/or changing the functionality of it. Also, this release brings MS2 very close to the point where we have covered all of the old functionality from MS1 - completing another of my personal goals for MS2. As a last comment about the previewer - please know, that it's the first version straight from the oven. It will probably have bugs. Do not hesitate to report them on our Discord, or our new Issue tracking board!
Anything else new?
Of course! A couple of small additions and fixes made their way into this release:
Added Mack Anthem support
Fixed a bug where some users couldn't start new projects, edit options or other things in the backstage menu
Fixed a bug where Importing skin images would sometimes fail due to file already existing
Updated .Net Core to 3.1 !!! (Might require you to install .Net Core and/or SDK again!)
Keep an eye on MS2 development behind-the-scenes!
Recently, I opened a MS2 GitHub Issue board. This is a great resource where you can see what we have planned for the near future of MS2. Also, it gives you a way to see what bugs have been reported, and to report bugs that you found! Most planned features & bugfixes are sorted into Milestones (future releases), so you can have a good idea what's coming in the next release. And, if you have a desire to help with MS2 development, you'll see what issues we could use a hand with.
Future plans...?
There's plenty of plans, just not enough time :)
I'll continue improving MS2, our website and our issue board. I also plan to record video tutorials on beginner and advanced MS2 features.
Again, thank you all for being a big part of MS2 development! This truly wouldn't be possible without you all!
All the best,Marin
