Mods Studio 2 v.2020.05 released (Patreon)

Hello everyone,

This month brings us a bit different release - this version does not bring that many new mod templates, but it does bring huge changes "under the hood".

Everything started with me trying to improve Trailer Skins - adding the ability to skin trailer accessories. Once I got into that, I decided that our UI needs upgrading - accessories needed the ability to display proper names and ability to group them; Images needed to be properly sized into thumbnails; Also, images needed a better way to add them (drag and drop). To wrap things up, we developed some new validators.

Warning!

The above mentioned features required a huge rewrite of MS2 code. This version is not backward-compatible as of yet. This means you can't load your old projects or use your old vehicle XML files. Or any old XML files, probably. Over the next days, there will be updates published with added tools that will help you convert old XML files into the new format.

Of course, you can re-load your mod vehicles using our Load from mod tool - it has been updated to handle the new format. We also added a new feature to the tool: ability to load data from a folder. This can be handy for loading data from extracted game files.

Please try this version, and let me know if you find any bugs! But, as a precaution, keep your v.2020.04 handy as a fallback, at least until the next release. This version will be Patron-only. 

 Upcoming updates

Over the next weeks, I'll publish updates. This will include converters to load old XML files and smaller quality-of-life updates that were planned. I'll also continue adding accessory names into the app (not all accessories are properly named yet - there's hundreds of them) :)

Bigger plans

In the upcoming months we plan to release some really cool things: traffic truck skins, garage skins, follower (pilot) vehicles skins, and of course, the fleet design tool. I'm sure you'll love the features that we plan to release :)
