My mother-in-law has schizophrenia and has been on antipsychotics for years, and was on Librium before there were other options. She has severe tardive dyskinesia. My husband has been watching this season with me and immediately remarked that Christine speaks and moves her jaw exactly like his mother, and reminds him of his mother when she was young. Now I can’t unsee it, but he’s not wrong and it makes me wonder if that’s part of it for Christine.

Great quote this episode: “We don’t do this as Catholics. I kept everything inside.” This is most likely the heading for my record at my therapist’s office. Not to drone on, but my great grandmother (extremely Irish Catholic) lost a son to a sudden heart attack when he was golfing at the age of 42 and the story that has been passed down to me from my entire family is that my great grandmother informed everyone that they were not to wear black to the funeral and they were not to “cry and carry on.” The message to all of her children and grandchildren was “if you need to cry, you leave, pull yourself together and come back.” And that’s basically been the rule when it comes to negative emotions for every generation in my family ever since. It’s super healthy, ya know? 🙃
