Matt and Amani consider divorce to bring their fiance to the US. Stevi tells her dad she's engaged and her fiance arrives tomorrow. Mark's daughter sees red flags with his younger fiance. Jessica worries if Juan will be happy with rural family life. Sarper's behavior rattles Shekinah.

Stevi's understatement regarding relations between the United States and Iran struck me as well and I found it a bit amusing! So far she seems likeable but saying that the US and Iran "don't like each other" is the understatement of the century. It's like saying that Poodle "might be a bit upset" when the adult children start to meddle between him and his beau 😂 😜 I studied international relations in college and took an upper level course on Middle Eastern politics so I think that's why her assessment of our relations with Iran were particularly amusing! The US supported the formerly democratic government of Iran, headed by the Shah, for decades. The revolution, which led to Khomeini coming to power, along with the hostage crisis were the formal end of our diplomatic relationship with Iran in 1980. I remember going to DC on a class trip and seeing the Iranian embassy closed and fenced off. It was a very powerful image especially when compared with the other buildings on embassy row which were bustling and very much open. Sorry for the novel, I just tend to nerd out about this stuff!

Was anyone else concerned with the amount of toner Sarper must have gone through to print all those full-page full-color pictures of him and shekinah? Also the concept of an open bar at a baby’s baptism made me laugh out loud. Is that normal???? I’ve never attended a baptism I can’t imagine it is.

I can’t help it, Sarper charms the heck out of me! Someone on Reddit posted a pic of herself with Sarper and Shekinah after meeting them on Halloween. She said they were both lovely but Sarper was especially sweet and made sure her hair was in place for the picture

Going to offer a little perspective on cultural timelines regarding Mina! I’m wondering what her background is, I know she met him in France, but if her family is of African decent (and obviously not everyone’s family is the same) it’s is quite common and traditional that for parties, weddings ect the honorees tend to be late and it’s not considered rude at all. I’m Colombian and it’s the exact same situation in South America. People arrive late to EVERYTHING haha. 🤣 Remember Pao arriving super late to her baby shower? However, if it isn’t cultural and is just more of a Tiger Lilly situation - then yes this is rude af lol

i was trapped in new hampshire for the better part of 40 years. you could not pay me any amount of money to live there again. ever. still have family there and i visit. my sister-in-law dated a nh pilot for over 10 years and he was/is an absolute piece of shit player who preys on young women. of course everybody loved him though bc he was a pilot and he was charming 🙃 on their second date he took her on his little plane to cape cod for lobster rolls. they took many little trips like that. he also could fly free as a retired airline pilot and she could fly as well but she would be further down on the priority list so sometimes it meant being in an airport for 24 hours or more waiting to catch a flight to chile.

also, i’ve absolutely buried the lead bc the truth is, this particular nh pilot hit on my 19 year old daughter who was friends with his 19 year old daughter at the time… and yes, he was dating my sister-in-law when that happened. my daughter was furious and icked but refused to tell her aunt whom she is very close to. to this day it is one of my most wrestled with ethical dilemmas! i never told my SIL! i promised my daughter i would let her decide on it.

Glad to know my family is not the only one who does that. I'm from Southern KY and my family will call and say "what ya doin?" When my aunt answers her phone she'll say "talk to meh". I also use the term "fixin" on the regular😂.

I was so excited to see a story out of Hattiesburg, MS. I have family there, and I went there every year. Her accent is VERY MILD compared to most people in the South. Her dad’s accent needed subtitles for sure!

I’ been on Sertraline (Zoloft) for years for that very reason. I used to tear up so easily. Yes I am a sensitive person but this was a physiological response I could not control. I hope whatever you find whether it’s better living through chemistry or a different path that you find some peace. ❤️
