I’m catching up on these and I screamed at the TV. Lydia wouldn’t have been so into this random dude and this imaginary relationship if she had friends and an actual life outside her family. This show is so triggering for me since I was raised Evangelical and so much this makes me crazy. I loathe Kim! 🤣🤣🤣 Ok. Back to catching up.

I hope everyone gives Olivia some grace. Having estranged parents and relationships with siblings who are not estranged from them is extremely difficult to navigate and never gets easier. There is no right or wrong way to do this. Boundaries are important and anyone who has not been in this type of situation will never truly understand. Sending love to any other sissies dealing with this.

I do think the family Plath talked about the tractor incident... I think the mom chose to put all the blame on the oldest daughter because "she was supposed to be watching her baby brother", and that's part of the reason she moved far alway. And when she moved away, the blame also went away.... And at that point, the parents disassociated.

Thank you for discussing the damage of placing value on purity. I grew up Baptist, and was waiting til marriage until I was date raped in college. The message ingrained in me made the aftermath so much worse. I felt worthless and just spiraled for a long time. It’s been 17 years, I’ve been to therapy and doing better but it’s still a struggle. It’s hard not to blame the church

having lived through my ex husband's protracted depression, my heart goes out to olivia. the helplessness and inertia she witnesses is so painful.

Oh my god as soon as I laid eyes on that diction coach I thought to myself “Welcome to Plathville is the most homoerotic show on television.” I knew y’all would have a lot to say. I’m trying to listen to this at work and it’s so hard not to laugh.

I’m good for about an hour and a half of fun too. And somewhere along the way I developed the philosophy “Someone has to be first in line for food, it might as well be me.” Don’t understand why people think it’s embarrassing, or worse- let kids be first through the food line.

This is Mattie. I have seen Poodle push children out of the way for cake. #notKidding #noFucks

Thank you! I have NO shame in being the first in line. Also, kids take forever, and they're gonna eat like garbage anyway - P

Behind the Bastards just did an episode about Josh Duggar, and they go in deep about the Evangelical/birth certificate situation. Basically, if you don't have a birth certificate, you can't get an ID, license, passport, etc. and therefore can't really leave. 😬

Katie Nelson

I also can only take an hour and a half of fun

Fuck. Poodle and I are so similar it’s scary. I can handle social situations for about 45 minutes if I’m not drunk. But my favorite food?? Costco Cake!! First in line!!!

Fran Dioso

I love Kacey Musgraves

Olivia is just protecting her boundaries. Mama Plath gives Flowers in the Attack vibes. I’m surprised she doesn’t start every sentence with “You know your mom is an evil, batshit”

Danielle Remillard

Why aren’t we talking about how Olivia and Mama Plath are like the same person?

Jilliann Gardner

I laughed so hard at the Halsey/Billie Eilish thing because Poodle was so impressed that Mattie had a relevant comparison and then you could feel his disappointment when he realized.
