I'm also re-listening to the previous season with Avi, Ari, and Bini.. Things not to forget: Janice approved of the hospital to give birth in (but not hernia surgery). She was given the nickname "Dickhead Ari". Please bring it back. Avi was also given the names 'Simba' which I'm glad didn't stick, and 'T. Bebe Selassie' from the church, which is pretty cool. Matt also called Indians slow that season and was came for 💀

Ari traumatized Binyim by leaving with Avi and he’s shamed for dealing w it by partying? And people are surprised he’s angry at Ari who is using Avi to control him? Binyim deserves more compassion.

I was at some unseasoned neighborhood chili cook off and there was WAY too many kids there almost running into the fire pit and just being ridiculous, so I loudly exclaimed “THERE ARE TOO MANY KIDS HERE” then proceeded to tell a stranger that this was my actual nightmare. I thought she would agree. She did not and it was awkward. Stay strong, friends.

My mother wanted to be called grandma (but then changed her mind), then she wanted to be called Mammie and we had to have an appropriation talk, then she wanted to be called " Badass", and thankfully she went with me to a speech therapist session where she was asked "what do the kids call you" and we settled on Gaga. Thank you for your thoughtful discussion of Ari and Bini! I am not a huge Ari fan (she is spoiled and self-focused.. I don’t think anyone debates this!) but I am SO SICK of the “choir boy” Bini (as you call him) we see onscreen. Clearly we as viewers do not have the whole story, and I’m with Poodle—it’s beyond frustrating for production to present this storyline (and I believe much of it is true) without any evidence.

I am ironically in a situation that has many parallels to Ari, which is perhaps why i can see this situation from her perspective. It wasn’t a bang trip 😂 but I did get pregnant while working overseas, and came back to the US to give birth because I had better insurance here. And thank goodness I did—I ended up needing an emergency c-section in July, and my son spent the next month in the NICU. I would not have had access to that level of care in the country where my son was conceived and where his father lives. I am now in the middle of trying to navigate what is best for my child, as of course I would like his father to be a part of his life. However, I do not have enough trust in this man to sponsor him coming to the United States, and since he resides in the Middle East, I am not comfortable taking my son there, knowing I will have zero family support and also no legal custodial rights to my child (since I am a woman.) I apologize for blathering on about my personal circumstances—I just never imagined a situation could feel so complicated and so “un-win-able” and it made me look at Ari and Bini’s situation with greater empathy.

I will say, my parents did not fund my life overseas a la Ari 😂 but my son will be getting the same hernia surgery that Avi had. And it was never a question in my mind where the surgery would take place. I knew I’d be doing it in the US, because that is what feels safest for my child. Also, I don’t know what it says about my life that I find many parallels to Ari and Bini’s story—YIKES!! 😂
