Poodle have you read the Fifth Season by N.K. Jemisin? It’s SO good, as are the other books in the series. It’s fantasy (and sorta sci fi?) that is female centric and definitely turns the world on its head. Also, I love Mattie’s Middle Earth Minute(s) and want more!

Mama Gwen would not go that long not speaking to her child and not seeing her grandchild. Yara isn’t the mom to just leave her child and run the streets shopping or need someone to watch the baby very often. I agree, I think this part of their story is fraudacity. She was crying in the first episode because she never does anything with her “friends” and Jovi was complaining about them. I’m not buying Gwen and them not speaking for half a year.
