On A1 Jewelry - the strip mall its in used to be part of a higher end shopping area called Hilltop Plaza. It was The Place to Go when strip malls were a fascinating concept . As you might guess, bad times befell the strip mall & A1 is in a space that has had several tenants , including an Old Country Buffet & Fed Ex Store. Im quite sure you can still smell the Arthur Treatures Fish Fry from a few doors down if you went inside. ( I grew up literally around the corner from Hilltop Plaza & my mom STILL lives in the house - boy was she proud to hear how her neighborhood was featured on LALU!)

Not LALU related but Poodle mentioned The Last of Us. I played the game many times! Love it! The series is doing a beautiful job of being true to the game (to not piss us off) but taking the right liberties to create a different environment (to bring ppl in who didn't play the game). Beautifully done. Screen adaptation is very difficult but they nailed this so far!

As a current 911 dispatcher I have an important message!! DO NOT think that calling 911 and leaving your phone on in your pocket will always work. I would say 3/10 calls give an extremely accurate location. Some don’t give a location AT ALL! It depends on the software your agency has and your phone carrier and your service and all sorts of things. And if you’re in an apartment building, there’s a good chance we cannot tell where in the building you are. Try really hard to lock yourself in the bathroom and at least give an address to us. Or the ordering a pizza trick for domestic violence. We do our best to find open ended calls when there is sounds of disturbance but I hate how she said to just leave the line open like it’s foolproof. Also realize we get hundreds of open needed 911 calls a day, as Apple watches and phones call us constantly as a mistake. So some dispatchers get complacent and if no one is requesting help they will assume it is a mistaken call. Not saying that’s right but I just had to put this out there for everyone’s safety. Also remember you can text 911 or have text a friend call for you. The reason this worked so well before is prob because she has called the police dept before and they have her number saved in her name file with her exact address. Thanks everyone and be safe!!!!
