“It is what it is” is something my BF (44 y/o white male) says A LOT. As a person who knows too much about too much feelings- I know what he means, “this isn’t something I have the programming to articulate how I’m feeling.” And so I try to treat him as if he said the emotional thing he meant. “Honey, I understand you want to let her know you’re frustrated and angry but also afraid she will reject you for having feelings. It’s ok. Everyone loves you.” Because they were not given the training or language. Me on the other hand, was trained to absorb, process, and respond to EVERYONES FEELINGS. TRAUMA YALL

Priscilla would be a perfect watchalong movie if you ever do another. Also, I just spent approximately 8 gazillion hours driving from colorado to Chicago to Tennessee and back over 5 weeks with my husband, toddler (yes, my “baby”), and two dogs and IT WAS A LOT! We saw lots of wonderful family along the way, which Leida’s family didn’t get to experience. They just had to stay in a car with Eric and Leida got to go to a new home with an INFLATABLE SOFA! I died when I first saw that sofa.
