That's what I was thinking too. Most places have that option. I did it for a few months when I was waiting to move into my condo out of my apartment. I don't understand why she is so upset that Dempsey thinks that would be too fast. Has Statler not learned anything from her past mistakes? Just move to England and get yourself a place and continue the relationship. Why is that such a dealbreaker. She doesn't like living on the farm anyway.

Thank you for bringing up the Statler thing with people calling her a “sex tourist”. Fully ignoring the context that there is absolutely no power imbalance and if anything, Dempsey holds more of the power here. Another Patreon I’m on someone commented at me about Statler calling her a “white supremacist” for being into British women. People are so unhinged about her, it’s making me feel nuts.

I know there’s a lot of controversy around Statler and I don’t agree with some of it. But to me, love bombing is manipulation and I think issue is her love bombing Dempsey with the goal of getting something (s*x and a place to live). Dempsey is going into this with the intention to see if they work together and to date someone (as she tells the camera). Statler from literal day one has gone into it with the intention of getting what she wants, which she has told the camera over and over (a place to live and s*x). Before she even told Dempsey her plan of moving into her home, she was telling the camera constantly that the place may not suitable for her. The means to the end is love bombing and that feels super manipulative. I feel a little crazy cause it feels like people don’t agree but it does not feel right to me.

I agree with your analysis, but I think the thing that makes Statler's attempts at manipulation seem non-threatening is that she's so bad at it. It really doesn't seem like she's thinking anything through or even remotely capable of tricking Dempsey into doing anything she doesn't want to.

My other thought on this (sorry I had to come back cause I finished the pod finally!) - I do think it's that even though it's two women, there can still be power imbalances or an unsafe environment in the relationship. I'm not necessarily assuming that is the case with this relationship and I don't think Poodle thinks that (given the queer old tomato haha) but I just noticed that comment on the pod. That was more in reference to the s*x tourism part though (which I also agree it's not that). But we don't know Statler's financial situation and sure, Dempsey has more power in that she has a home and Statler soon does not, but that doesn't mean Statler is powerless compared to Dempsey. She can still be using or manipulating her to get what she wants. I don't know why I have so many thoughts on this hahah maybe I'm projecting!
