Am I the only person who is not super familiar with LA (have been there twice) and knows Inglewood from watching Insecure? Rob is absolutely someone Isa or one of her friends would date for like 3 episodes.

Also - it’s interesting to hear how people who live in LA find the way Rob was portrayed - I live not too far from Rochester NY (roughly in the Buffalo equivalent of South Wedge, where she seems to be) and Ashley’s whole world was so familiar and believable to me, 100% would run into that whole table at the local gay bar or the local not-quite-a-gay-bar-but-friendly-though

Rob might not have been born until '94 ish but I think y'all might have been too dismissive of what his experience might have been growing up bi-racial (I think he might actually have said that he's part black). We don't know about Rob's family history/situation, but Rodney King was in '92 and the OJ verdict was in late '94, I imagine that the years in the aftermath of those events might have been a kind of complicated time for his parents to have been in an interracial relationship and raising a mixed race kid in LA. I'm not from LA so I don't know, but it's just a thought.

I took a look at Rob’s IG and he lives in LA now, but he was raised in a middle class suburb of Kansas City. He then lived in Oregon and then ended up in LA to pursue an. Acting/modeling career. There is a picture of him on the Love Connection reboot. There also are pictures of him playing for his high school baseball team in Olathe, Kansas. I’m not sure what his formative years were like in Kansas, but it does not appear he was in LA for Rodney King or OJ.

Interesting. I was curious about how his parents relationship/experience with race in that era might have impacted his upbringing. Living in Oregon as a POC is more than enough to traumatize someone for life though lol.
