An hour and a half?? I can't wait to listen, this season is already MESSY

Sundi Rose

Praise Jesus this is here!!! The whole time I was watching I was thinking, “I can’t WAIT to hear what the guys are gonna say about this!!!”

Megan MacKenzie

The fact that Garrick is from Buena Vista, CO makes a lot of sense. It’s like a weird mountain town with a prison. One of those places in Colorado that’s gorgeous and creepy at the same time?

MicaS

The cold open was exactly what I hoped for but adding the “Three’s Company” theme music was an unexpected and wonderful addition. I agree with Poodle, I don’t watch the other cringe shows but this one is really hard to look away from.

Julie Perley

I thought the baby’s name was Farrah as in Fawcett 🤷🏻‍♀️

Meg Scallon

Yay I’m so glad you’re going to be covering this season!! Soo excited to watch this bonkers show with you two. 🤩

Shelley Harriott

I used to be a little grossed out by Nick… until I realized he’s the smartest man in America. Convincing these women to work while he stays home and “thinks”. I NEVER want them to leave my tv!!!

Lindsay Southerland

Well… now every time I see the Footprints poem I’m going to think about how Jesus is always the invisible 3rd in Poodle’s threesomes. Which is an improvement on what it made me think of before 😂

Sarah Taafe

CO sissy here. The real freaks are in Highlands Ranch. Full of rich swingers. They put pineapples in front of their houses!!

Jennifer Riester

I could not breathe during that Chelsea Marr story, favorite one yet!!! I'm still crying a little 🤣 I had the subtitles on and the baby's name was spelled "Vera".

Hannah Goralewicz

I’m so excited y’all are covering this!! This is my favorite show. I miss the Winders too! I called them the Farmacists. 😂

Val McCue

WHAT?!?! It’s that a swingers symbol? OMG. My mom lived in a condo where this neighbor couple across the long hallway had a pineapple doormat and now that I think of it 🤔 they looked freaky dicky - boy, every day is a learning day 😂

Alyssa Holland

“Come on, Muffin, I guess we gotta go to a three-man wedding.” I’m crying!

Becca Horsley

Omg this is my very favorite Cringe show. I'm SO glad you're covering it this season!!

Becca Horsley

The Winders were a wholesome little palette cleanser in between all the craziness. I miss them too

Deb

Watcher in the woods!

Alyssa Holland

You guys, the Merrifields AREN’T Mormon - they were evangelical, which makes this even better because Garrick literally invented this out of nowhere.

Lois Molina

I’m contemplating listening to this now or during my walk tomorrow morning. 🤔Unfortunately listening to the podcast on walks make me burst into laughter with the ridiculousness of the things said. I’m torn! 🤣😩

Christy Jackson

April and Jennifer (those are the names of the two original Carols, right?) worked together. That is how they met if I remember correctly.

Mao Mao Cosplay

This is right up my alley. I'm so morbidly fascinated by polygamy (particularly of the Mormon variety) and having it find its way to my favorite podcast is a treat!

Carrie Peterson

I did not know I needed to hear the theme song from Three’s Company today, but I did!

Alisha Dawes

Dannielle Merrifield, blink twice girl.

Ari

Poodle, I love when you name drop emo bands!

Liz F

Naeem is the love child of Bilal and VaLentine and y’all can’t tell me otherwise.

Jessica K

A lot of women would like to have a few new close friends and while they’re at it reduce the husband down to part time status .. and if he’s taking care of the kids even better. Maybe not a bad deal!

Jujuy

Me too, all the time....but frankly, fuck anyone who chastises laughter ( their problem, not yours, sissy!)

Kimberley Shelton

Auntie Mame is superior to Mame. Team Rosalind for life. .

Reality Gays

I AGREE! I loooove the songs from “Mame” but the musical film isn’t great. Roz Russell is iconic!!!

Alex

Love a Conor Oberst call out! ❤️

Kay

Please do not think that the views and opinions of the Salahuddins represent Islam. And being a “traditional” Muslim doesn’t mean you have to cover up, or dress a certain way. I identify culturally as a Muslim and was born in Saudi Arabia by very devout Muslims with a dad that’s a Sheikh (not a Haj) but a Sheikh based on his pilgrims to Mecca and also scholarly learnings that include a love for classic literature (Jane Austen) and others and he was a feminist and devout Muslim. Poodle really found a definition of polygamy in Islam that I grew up knowing and these people are misinterpreting the Quran to fit their narrative for the show. Also, there is a difference in practice depending on what they were taught, the Nation of Islam in the West has some difference in beliefs than what is practiced globally. And like Christianity, we have different sects and different practices within our religion. Sunni, Shia, Whabbi, Salafi, Berelvi, Sufi and Deobandi. It’s just as diverse. Apologies for a long explanation, but it grinds my gears. Just say you don’t want to deal with your husband being so needy and not put religion as a front for it. It’s really harmful and I’m not religious in any way. Just find this narrative to be tired and incredibly harmful to people that are devout and to the religion itself and those that are seekers. Just keep your shit separate from religion and be honest about it.

Priscilla Devereaux

Im going to have to say my takeaway from the episode is Carol #3 is definitely planning her exit strategy. You can tell she's not feelin the "marry wife #4" plan. Also ya gotta love a Southern Story. As a long time listening sissy, I love em!🤣🤣🤣

Erica Garcia

Your Anus is Dead. I was driving and I purposely went to get gas so I could enjoy the pod in my car by myself. What a god damn delight.

Meg Sanchez

Signed up for your Patreon today just bc of this series and love is blind a lil bit… BUT worth everything!!! Love u all 🤩

Megan

Nick is the smartest guy on tlc!! He had 3 women working for him simply because he doesn’t want to work and he’s not actually married to any of them! Kody could never

Alison

Oh watcher in the woods!!! Scared me to death as a kid!!! Btw, the girl who says Narek, that’s Kyle Richards!!!!!!!!

Emily Allen

Never have I been as frustrated as Poodle until Mattie couldn’t name one damn Emo band correctly 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

April

I got Patreon just to get VIP tickets for the tour, was going to cancel your girl is on a budget. I’m 100% staying just to listen to this series!

Laura

Shane is definitely the Dannielle of his relationship. He’s just along for the ride holding onto his partner for dear life.

Nery Herrera

Poodle!! Ashley and her eyebrows look like Jessica from Laguna beach…if she had grown up in the high desert.

Jelena Dobrić

I literally live in the same neighborhood as the Davis’. They are straight up Aurora trash. Aurora is the poor area of Denver and Nick and the Carols look like everyone I see on a daily basis. 😂😂😂

Peggy Ann

Can we move on from the name Vera? That was Father Dearest’s mother’s name and she treated me like dirt 😅

Colleen 🗑

I have a black and white print of that scene from Dumb & Dumber in my bathroom!

Emily Allen

As soon as he said black hair and eyeliner I was screaming “PETE WENTZ! FALL OUT BOY!”

Tonya Beth

Mattie just described me doing my brows😂😂I’ve tried so many ways and I’m terrible at all of them.

Megan

The way Poodle said “that’s fucking Green Day and mainstream” ..I felt that in my soul.

Mary Scheske

The amount of times Danielle has ever so subtely checked her own pulse watching Ick and Bert flirt.... Shes going to lose it on him one day

Megan

OKAY. Mattie’s southern stories in this episode went from haha to darkness. I did not expect that.

Caroline Dickie

Um, no polygamy on 90 Day Fiancé? Have you forgotten Kimbahly insisting on being the number one wife with Usman??

Mary Scheske

I just bought a watercolor metal print of Jeff Daniel's toilet scene for our master water closet 😂😂😂😂

Elizabeth

Poodle, I believe you may have been meaning to say “mainstream Mormons” instead of “modern.” I’m not Mormon myself (please correct me if I’m wrong Mormon Sissies ❤️) but that’s the term I’ve heard used by members of the LDS Church.

Abby Ziff

I lost it at getting on the intercom at Sephora : “turd brow in Chanel aisle” 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Ashley Updike

Muslim sissy checking in. Yes polygamy is part of Islam and at the same time highly stigmatized within communities, especially in the west. Normal folks don't do it. Muslims in the west are highly sensitive to what others think and we are often targeted for violence. I wouldn't say it's common but is done in SOME communities. I 'dated' a guy who's mom was a 2nd wife. I've known two people who participated in it. Also have a friend who's Somili American who's father had multiple families with different wives. I've been a Muslim for a decade. I believe most mosques won't do polygamy marriages due to the legality and stigma. People get an independent shiekh without ties to a mosque to lead the nikah (wedding). There are four 'camps' I notice that do it: extemely conservative Muslims (salafis), some cultures where the practice predates Islam (horn of Africa/Gulf states), Nation of Islam/break aways from NOI and scammers. Common justification is 'I don't want to sin by having a mistress' and fertility struggles. The punishment from God for a man who doesn't treat his wives equally is that he will be pulled apart and cut in half in hell.

Ashley Updike

I wanted to add some context for what was said about 'not enough men for women to marry' comment. There is general concern that there isn't enough Black Muslim men to marry due to the prison industry complex incarcerating them. Leaving a lot of women and kids behind. That being said this couple is just wanting to time. They shouldn't be used as an example.of normal folks

SneakyMoo

I was born to a Muslim family but no longer Muslim. My grandmother (mom's side) was a second wife because my grandfather's first wife couldn't have kids, so my grandma had 8!! Anecdotally, I've grown up hearing that Muslim men can have up to 4 wives as long as they are treated equally and/or there's a reason to bring on other wives, such as infertility. However my grandparents are the only polygamous situation I've ever heard of, so certainly not common in (my) secular world, with 15+ aunts/uncles and 30+ cousins on both sides of my parents. Small sample but you'd think I'd at least hear of another polygamous situation if it was even remotely common.

Deanna Elio

Interesting! Care to share why you left the faith? (If it's too personal though I get it!)

SneakyMoo

I was born into a mainly Islamic country, then we fled due to war when i was 3. My parents have been relatively progressive my whole life and never pressured religion and let us choose our own paths. Therefore religion made less sense to me and just became irrelevant!

Greta Jordan

I love you guys so much, but I keep buying more seats on the “Ratchet Bus” and it’s all your fault! 😊 Last year, it was “Smothered” and now it’s this. And, just like “Smothered,” I resisted this one for a long time. My a*shole ex-husband wanted to get into this lifestyle bad. We would actually get in arguments because he’d get upset that I was not interested enough in women to seek out a girlfriend to join us. He has a lot of issues, but he was never THIS crazy, which says a lot! I can tell you 100% that having his DNA inside me for 19 years has not put me any closer to “salvation”than I would be had I never married him and I actually think that he would agree with me, lol! Well, thanks (I think) for bringing yet another cringe show into my reality universe. It’s always fun when you realize that someone else’s life is a lot more jacked up than your own!!! 🤣

Julianne

They’re only swingers if the pineapples are upside down. Apparently the new thing for swingers is loofahs on one’s golf bag, with different colors indicating different activities

Greta Jordan

I that Nick could be stuck in the 70’s. We already know “Three’s Company” is the “inspiration” for his way of life. When you guys were talking about famous “Veras,” you forgot one of the most famous “Veras” of all time: “Vera,” the ditzy waitress from the TV show “Alice.” When I saw the baby’s name, that’s who immediately came to mind. Let’s hope that the baby grows up to be much smarter than her TV namesake! Lol

Elisabeth Berry

I live in Denver and one of my friends is from Buena Vista. She went to high school with Gerrick’s younger brother. She told me the whole family has cut ties with him.

Linds

Has anyone made the connection that Garrick looks like Joel Osteen?! I cannot unsee it

Lisa F

that’s what Kara Berry of Everyone’s Business But Mine calls him on her podcast ::-)

Megan Vasquez

okay seeking sister wife is 💯 𝓅𝓇𝒾𝓂𝑜 𝓉𝓇𝒶𝓈𝒽 in perhaps the most amazing way i’ve seen yet on television. poodle was right! 💋👌🏼 I’ve never doubted you, Poodz

Emilia Kmiecik

Poodle your Conor Oberst reference made my cold heart sing- he’s my absolute favorite artist of all timeee.

Ms-Metal

I was late in watching. I didn't remember that Danielle and Garrick were even LDS. But as for Muslims and polygamy, it is absolutely in the Quran and its commonality in today's day and age, speaking on a World level, depends on a number of things, the country the people are in or tribe, their wealth and status and their age. It's far less common amongst younger generations. Partially because younger Generations don't have as much money to be able to afford it and partially because it's more traditional. Some countries have outlawed it and in other countries it's still very common. Also, and regards to the juice they would drinking. It is extremely common for Muslims, at least overseas to drink juice because they don't drink alcohol. I followed an American woman who moved to Saudi and part of what she mentioned and showed pictures of are the juice sections of a restaurant or to shop and they have like a hundred varieties of juices, from fruits you didn't even know existed. So I think that was part of the culture. So I don't think this couple is Islamic from overseas. I don't think it's fair to say that plural marriage is not practiced in Islam, it very much is and there are tenets that must be followed by the man. For the most part they seem to live in different houses, but again that also depends on the country, tribe and wealth level.

Ms-Metal

Yep, I was screaming at the phone yelling what about Usman? I posted a comment just now a week late, but polygamy is still very much practiced in Islam, it just depends on the country or tribe, the age, the income. African nations seems to have actually one of the highest rates of plural marriage of the Islamic countries.

Ms-Metal

While I don't disagree, it depends on what area of Aurora. Aurora is a huge suburb and a lot of it is really trashy, but parts of it are quite upscale too. Not that this group lives in the upscale area lol. But yeah, they look like most of the people in Aurora. I had a good friend who lived in the not so nice area, tho solidly middle class. Terrible hair, worse clothing, nobody ever taught her how to dress her put on makeup. I felt a bit sorry for her and honestly couldn't believe some of the stuff she wore to work and considered appropriate.

Ms-Metal

That's what my husband said LOL. He watched the first few minutes and I told him about Nick and that he doesn't work at all and just likes to 'learn' and that he manipulated the women into marrying each other so that he is technically not tied to any of them (before the baby), left disaster and said Nick was the smartest guy on the show 😄 We are in Colorado and he was just shaking his head LOL.

Ms-Metal

Omg! That's what I thought, I couldn't understand why these two were talking about them being LDS? I was questioning myself that maybe I forgot from last season, but I was explaining to my husband who all the people were, and focusing on the Colorado ones since we live here and I told them were Christians, I believe Evangelical but I'm not positive, definitely Fringe though. I have no idea where they got that these two are Mormons?

Ms-Metal

Yeah, that's a total myth lol. Saw video from residents in The Villages, where this rumor started and they said don't tell anybody, but they told us the secret, the real reason for the loofahs... it's because all the golf carts look the same and it helps them identify their golf cart from a distance. I live in Colorado and I'm part of a fringe community, not swingers though, those of us who let our freak flag fly are everywhere, not just Highlands Ranch 😉

Molly Kreutzfeldt

Mattie Singing Green Day in a British Accent. I have actual tears of laughter streaming down my face.

Bumbuu

Thank you so much for convincing me to watch this ick fest. Amusing and off-putting in my opinion. The Merrifield's are some of the worst people I've ever seen on tv but I kind of like the Davis's. I cackled at Mattie's vast knowledge of early 2000s emo music. Lots of love ❤️ KGQ

Megan Kim

Omg love the intro music!

Emily Nelson

Poodle’s enunciation is keeping him from pure greatness, he was so close to coining “Teemin’ with Semen” as a catch phrase hahaha

Lizzy

I DID IT. I successfully watched seasons 2-4 in preparation for you guys covering season 5. IT WASN’T EASY. So happy I can fully enjoy this series now. GARRICK DRIVES ME COMPLETELY INSANE

Amy Diehl

I was hoping when Ashley said she was dating her makeup artist that she could help her with her brows but then I saw Grace and her brows look horrible too. It appears they were microbladed but just in the wrong color
