It's bizarre how much toxic people can make us doubt ourselves. Like, it's so obvious Marcus isn't to blame AT ALL for the whole Trent/Evan situation, and still everything he does is trying to get redemption.

Poor Marcus. He's got so many "if only"s flying around in head head in the present because of this, I'm sure. If only he'd agreed to see Trent once (gross and bad for him as that would've been), if only he hadn't instinctively looked Evan's way, if only he'd been able to stop Trent. But probably none of that would've helped in the long run because Trent is the sleeziest slimeball for either of them to have had the misfortune of meeting.
