and he gave the job of looking into her to Inoichi, the person with the most incentive to make sure her name is clear and look as deeply into it as possible, if only due to how Ino would hate him until she died if he didn't

Yeah, the Hokage isn't pleased with everything here. I have the feeling that the people who where supposed to give him intel update (on wave specifically) will be asked very harshly why they felt that this wasn't important enough to bring to the Hokage's attention. I have the feeling that Danzo will have to do some fast talking.

While ninja kids have it rough, what with their ninja parents knowing about their ninja love lives, I think ninja parents may have it worse. Inoichi has better senses than Ino does, he absolutely knows a lot more than he wants to about his daughter's love life.

Man, all I can say is that I find the fact that Sakura is desperately scrambling to be at what she believes is the minumum requirements to survive later, and the rest of people are looking this *peacetime* genin sewing herself together on her first foray out... Sakura has the shinobi equivalent of lifters dysmorphia lol.

Inoichi wondering how they missed Gatou is funny, and something I don't normally think about. Though, Naruto as a series often doesn't make sense so I just attribute it to that. Edit: I guess it could be Danzo, since everything is his fault. Letting a neighbor country fall to ruin so they aren't competition sounds like the sort of thing he would support. I hope they at least knew how rich he was, considering what Sakura had said about him. I know she's got her unfair knowledge, but from the outside it helps explain why he would legitimately want Sakura in intelligence. Ino would maybe be able to point out that Sakura had explained something was off about the mission, and Kakashi noted her suspecting the Demon Brothers were working for another ninja.
