"Does he even know what a joint lock is?" Merlin lives in the present. As in, only he and Chaldea are the remainders of that world. He's been alive since Camelot times and never dies. But has been watching from his tower. He's fully up to date on the world. lol

As a final thing of Gilgamesh story (on fate lore at least, real history lore could be different) that it isn't told here on the anime is that gods are eternal and they don't change like humanity, they always stay the same as they are "eternal" and can only change when they posses a human as that human personality becomes a part of them, in short it gives them the ability to evolve and Gilgamesh showed his humanity by changing 3 times on his life, when he was little he was an innocent and good kid, then he became a tyrant as an teenager and finally after the search for the herb he came back as a wise king. In his story Gilgamesh finally understood humanity after he came back from his journey, as he didn't think of himself as a god or a human and that made him feel alone, only Enkidu, something that also wasn't human or god was able to be his friend. after the death of Enkidu, he was devastated and truly feared death for the first time as he could die unlike other Gods because he was part human, he did't fear it because it would mean the end of him, but fear it becase he would be unable to fulfill the reason of his existence (to watch over humanity's grow) and so after he obtained the herb and lost it, he finally understood his own humanity that he didn't know he had, he lost something that for the first time didn't come to him just by existing, he worked so hard for it and yet he lost it instantly and despite that he would continue to live on more years, it was laughable and a comedy to him yet it showed how even after losing something that you fought all your life, humans could continue to live and evolve despite of it, even if he was gone, he understood that humanity was going to continue to evolve even after his death and he finally felt that he had humanity in him just like other humans, despite being different he was like them and as such he came back to Uruk calmer, wiser and ruled Uruk until the end loved by all of his people (to which he himself said to be his best "treasure"). in short, he is a big Tsundere with humanity and we on F/GO love him for that, lol.
