To elaborate on this more, episode 6 is the end of the first arc of the first arc of index. The third arc of index and the 1st arc of railgun S are the same arc, but from Touma's and Misaka's perspective respectively. The Index version is 5 episodes and the Railgun version is 16. So the pacing ends up being significantly different. The railgun version uses a lot of mystery and suspense that may less impactful if you already know what is going to happen. The railgun version also came out later and has better animation. With that said, there is nothing wrong with watching the Index version first, so do whatever is easiest for you.

This is why I slightly prefer watching railgun first. This arc throws a lot at you. Different types of magic, two power systems, a unique setting, many characters, and now vampires oh my. I think getting familiar with the setting and one of the power systems first helps you digest all of what index throws at you better

I actually think its more interesting to see it after index as it surprises you with how much more there was going on than you initially thought. You're always thinking of how this compliments what you already know. But either way its fine

I can't help you unfortunately I only remember the Brain Fried part and the last part I completely forgot (likely my brain is trying to limit information to help my mental health) I hope you are able to enjoy whatever route you pick

Like, even when science wasn't a thing yet, it was considered dark magic. Especially in Greece or Roman Empire? They kidnapped a lot of folks, especially kids and they used dark magic. Which in turn is just basically what science is.
