We have to forgive the villain in this arc, they had to cut a lot of content leaving the villain no time to get the news and turn a new leaf lol it's all the fault of Index pacing

Dude!!! I am so right there with ya on the"What if Toma just......wasn't?" idea. The Toaru story just so happens to have MASSIVE acts of cruelty, rage, and vitriol done during a particular few months, and sure, Misaka was around to put down some insanely heinous plots, but without Toma and Imagine Breaker, many, many, many lives would/could have been lost, cou tkess hearts broken, and fates erased. Fascinating reality to think about....

Izzard's last line is "You're a monster!" That is what he believed, and therefore it was. Well more specifically he probably equated Imagine Breaker in Touma's right arm as the monster, hence why Touma's arm specifically became the monster. Ironically, his ultimate, theoretically unbeatable power was his own undoing, but also is probably the reason he didn't die. He envisioned his own death by the "monster," but since ultimately it was all in his head, he suffered more of an ego death rather than being literally devoured.
