There's actually a reason why they're all so smart. Esper powers, specifically the idea of personal reality is based on quantum mechanics and having an understanding of that is needed to be a high level esper. Also, they actually have to mentally calculate the physics equations for their respective abilities on the fly. So Misaka is calculating electromagnetism equations, Kuroko is calculating 11D spatial vectors Accelerator is calculating vector/matrix equations for electricity, velocity, magnetism, gravity etc. All of this while fighting. Basically, smart=strong and the story focuses on the strong ones

How Mugino's Power works: Prettty much everything is made of atoms, which have electrons in them. Electrons can either be a particle or wave when interacted with but when they aren't, they're in an ambiguous state in between. Mugino controls the electrons when theyre in that state but they can't be interacted with by other objects so theres a pretty much infinite force when it comes in contact with anything. Since she and Misaka both control electrons they can interfere with each other's powers. (It's actually insane how thought out each of the powers are in toaru, but in the anime they can't go into that much detail so they don't bog it down with tons of exposition. Even the magic powers have their own logic that makes sense in a way, but in the Index anime it just comes off as they can just do random shit)

Yup the higher level espers all basically have supercomputers for brains.

Mugino's power is electron based and can atomize materials. This is why her power interacts with Misaka's (because electricity is essentially the movement of electrons). And ya... Misaka is coping hard at the end

How are you handling the watch order for the next few episodes of railgun/ index?

rbgtalk

once railgun sisters arc is done, i go back to index and finish season 1, then go back to railgun s. Or just finish railgun s idk yet

Personally i think its better to watch the index version of the sisters arc before finishing the railgun version since the index version feels like a step down compared to the railgun version, especially animation wise. Alternatively you could watch the corresponding episodes of index/railgun together, though that can get a little boring especially for a reaction. In terms of after the sister's arc(s) I personally would recommend watching at least up to and including Index episode 20 before watching the final episode of railgun S. Whilst most of the second half railgun S is set before or simultaneously with Index 15-20, one specific scene from railgun S's finale is set after index ep 20 and spoils a major aspect of said episode. (edit: to make it clear im saying its prob best to watch index 15-20 before watching railgun s ep 17-24) Should also be noted Accelerator season 1 can be watched in between Index season 1 and season 2 as it is largely set between the two. The Index Movie can be watched in between Index season 2 episode 7 and 8. Railgun T is a bit trickery to place since parts of it overlaps with both Index season 2 and season 3.

This new series could also end up as a new starting point for people who want to watch Toaru chronologically since it will entirely take place a year before the rest of the series
