It was mentioned that in the last Holy Grail War everyone besides Julian died so Julian stuffed the dead souls in dolls to truly restart the war and make it impossible for him to lose the war. Shirou was being buffed because Miyu was using her Magecraft to support him through his fights and he was able to use the card to help mitigate the drawbacks of using his future powers. So when he made the wish he lost both of those things that were supporting him and he had to made do with just his own life force and to top it all off he was fighting a Gil that had no issues in using everything they had and they had displacement magic that basically made them immune/very hard to kill with the only weapon Shirou had available to him. Without Displacement Magic Shirou would killed Gil when he sliced through them during the initial battle before Ea and even with Ea he could have attacked and slice off the arm like Shirou did in Fate Stay Night UBW. This means that all Shirou could do was stall for the amount of time it required for Miyu to leave and winning the whole battle was impossible he could only accomplished his goals nothing more. The courage to give up everything he ever knew in order to save one person, the resolve to continue moving forward after losing everything and knowing its impossible to win, To accept that you are dooming an entire world and probably saving one person to give up everyone else is something that deserves praise, even if he is heavily nerfed in Season 4 because of the side effects of this battle he is always willing to give up his life for the sake of others and continue to fight a battle where the only ending is his death. This was my Ted Talk and now that its 2am and I have work in 4 hours I am going to pass out feeling happy to once again watch a reaction to this movie and Thank you once more for reacting to this series and your hard work, I have not seen the next movie so I will be looking forward to watching it with you whenever you feel is best for your schedule, as always stay safe and prioritize your own health both physical and mental!
