I love this bridge scene man. The voice acting, music, and direction are all so emotional. The pacing I think really helps Touma's character shine in this arc. In the second arc in Index (the one with the girl who attracts vampires), they cut out all the content with the Aureolus duplicate. There's a lot of content about the duplicate crashing out over not being the real Aureolus and this contrast causes a lot of development for Touma because he also feels like a fraud trying to live up to the person he was before the memory loss. But all he really knows about the person he was is that he saved Index, so he because of this he starts to constantly chase who he was. This is why he is so willing to risk his life helping people. All of that unfortunately gets cut and makes him feel more generic in the Index anime. Luckily he gets a bit of shine in Railgun. Speaking of characters, man does Misaka get great development in this arc like damn.
