Damn. I love what you said about Kirito in the start. Since you feel like that particularly, I think you should really enjoy the entirety of the anime. There are a LOT of decent “Give it your all or….” times. I love it, too. Can’t stand an MC who gets handed everything on a fucking velvet pillow. 🤢

“Teaming up with people you don’t like? That’s good!” Oh man, I was a-gigglin’.

Laughing Coffin…..ask them why, they’ll ask, “Why not?”

TheErisianMonk

I’ve heard that funerals tend to lead to birthdays, my dude. Seeing the evidence of our mortality in someone’s death can inspire an intense need to be touched, to feel alive.

TheErisianMonk

Seeing as Kirito stays over, and has a nice, touching chat while Asuna is in bed naked, them having went ahead and did the do tends to be canon for many SAO fans. Especially since the infamous adult “chapter 16.5” came out back with the original novel online. The author eventually backed away from the explicit love scene of chapter 16.5, as writing about to teenagers having sex in a series that you want the most acceptance from a greater audience can feel riské. Still, he wrote the story, and he wrote blatant evidence that their relationship was pretty standard when compared to what most people’s committed relationships are like. Tbh, between Asuna being naked AND happy that Kirito is there, within reach, and with them being teens who have depended on each other for countless life-and-death situations over the course of years while struggling with what their lives actually mean, I find it ludicrous to think that they wouldn’t be seeking the most basic comforts of mammals. I mean, they eat, but only get the feeling of satisfaction. So, why not, as the author put it, “turn off the Ethics Code,” and enjoy being alive in other ways. I know that, with my exploits of too many ridiculous circumstances, that I’m an unusually sexual person, but I’d have gone insane if my death game life didn’t allow for no-child-no-disease clappin’.

At the end, it felt like you somehow forgot the big ass timeskips that you previously remarked on. Even the most avid SAO fans can agree that the pacing of the series was bonkers in that regard. With your reaction at the end of the episode, all I could think is that you didn’t really grasp how very much time Asuna and Kirito spent together. That’s basically what the episodic shite was suppose to insinuate. Despite knowing other people for these years of living in Aincrad, these two were each other’s main stalwart connections. Though, I suspect that you will LOVE the Progressive movies now. They fill in SO MUCH of the missing time and experiences that the main series skips over. During their time rising in conquered floors, there were an absolute insane amount of events, fights, tragedies, and flirting. It was brilliant of Reki Sensei to basically rewrite his hit series and get them made as movies.

😭 I really thought Kurodeel turned over a new leaf and was about to become a sympathetic character

God, this episode. Just as the pacing in the show mellows out, this episode crams a whole arc into a single episode. Well, it's not SAO if the pacing isn't whack. The duel with Heathcliff is cool but a bit short. Unsurprisingly the novel did a better job showing the nitty gritty of their fighting styles and abilities, but it's fine. I wouldn't say Kuradeel is an unnecessary character, just a badly written one. He exists to remind the viewer of Laughing Coffin and be an impetus to drive Kirito's and Asuna's feelings out into the open. The ideal of a pitiful and jealous man deciding to associate with tpkers and attempt to murder Kirito out of jealous rage is fine, he certainly doesn't need to be a bad guy you're supposed to be sorry for, but he is so stupidly, cartoonishly evil. And in a way that doesn't fit with his character from the previous episodes. Of note, he was not saying that his party was once killed by tpkers, but that he intended to use that as an excuse. I think it would have been compelling enough if he had pretended to be contrite, got Kirito alone, and then poisoned him, all out of a stalkerish jealousy over Kirito "stealing" Asuna. Instead he's just a murderer for the love of the game I guess? At least the va probably had fun with all the manic laughter. Honestly more than anything my biggest complaint is that Kirito has to save Asuna after she saved him. Asuna is a certified badass but because she's also a waifu she has to be rescued, even when she's the one doing the rescuing. Wont be the last time. Not by a long shot. So our lovebirds finally are a item- oh wait they just kinda skipped all three bases and rushed to home plate. Now there was no sex or even nudity intended for what the world thought the rated teen SAO was going to be. It's just another gift added to the game from their captor for whatever his intentions are with SAO. Now, the two have known each other for over two years at this point, though they were basically just acquaintances for half of it and practically antagonists for much of the later half. But hey, it's cute so I wont gripe too much. Kirito: pokes cheek Also Kirito: surprised that woke her up
