i don’t know for sure but i personally think echidna’s face just aged, and she appears as her younger self at the tea party. although i can’t say that with confidence seeing as how her facial structure changed so drastically

Season 2 is my personal favorite season because of it’s themes and how i can relate to them. but the quality of the writing continues to go up and i love season 3 and 4

That's one of the only wya I've been able to rationalize it, too.

Yeah, I've always been unnerved by how Echidna's face is different in the sarcophagus, but I take it either that she appears as her younger self in the Witches' Graveyard, or that we see two different beings- Echidna and the Witch of Greed- just as there is Satella and then there is the Witch of Envy. Idfk.

One thing I've always loved is how, if Emilia has always believed that babies are made by kissing, and she clearly has an idea that the woman carries the child in her "belly," and that it is a heavy commitment between the guy and girl.... She accepted Subau's kiss! As innocent and ignorant as she is, having been stuck as a 7-year-old for more than 100 years, and just now being taught to live life away from being a little elven princess, she basically understood that she was accepting Subaru as someone that she would have a lifelong commitment with. Even with her uncertainty you've already seen thru season 3's halfway point, it doesn't change that she assumed that she was taking him as her partner/lover to some degree. I just appreciate that she did NOT anime-out and start freaking out and turning tsundere for a moment, just because her own incorrect form of sexuality was discussed. I LOATHE how sexuality is demonized in so, so, so many anime series. Like consensual, loving intimacy is a felony. This is a lovely change.

23:50 YES! How often do we see deadly enemies or archrivals or some other severe antagonist get forgiven and brought into the fold, yet no one hardly ever does THIS! Accountability, accusations, apologies! Far too rare in anime.

35:12 Btw, since you're well into S3, you should know that this blue-haired dude with a monocle is Clind. He is who trained up Subaru with a whip in that year timeskip. He is also who trained Frederica when she became a maid at Roswaal's as a little girl, but......you wouldn't like his reason for paying her, Ram, and Rem so much attention at that age.... During the aftermath of the Sanctuary Incident, Annerose, the tiny blue-haired girl, and Clind arrived to transport the villagers home. That was when Frederica and Ram warned Subaru about Clind's "interests," which don't discriminate between sexes, so Subaru worked to keep Beako away from him.

I'm strangely pleased that you got to see what happened with Subaru's parents. With isekai anime shows, there is very, very rarely any feedback on what is happening back on Earth, and their torment seems like the only possible result. The author has even commented on their situation, and it doesn't sound good.

Lastly, for the most contentious piece of cut content, which is very likely a horrendous and foolish cut....anime-onlys don't get to see Omega, who looks just like Ryuzu Shima and sounds just like Echidna, leave the Sanctuary by herself. So...yeah, Echidna taking over a body to roam the world while carrying a crystal that contains the consciousnesses of the other Witches couldn't possibly be important later. I will say the Reddit discussions of half a decade ago are really fun to read now that we are approaching the end of Arc 6 in the anime. People had some real wild, correct theories!
