An episode before it's time really considering all the recent stuff in the last few years that's come out to do with mounting pressure and stress within the anime production industry. If only they'd all taken Maromi's advice at the beginning and end and taken a rest. A very artistic but tragic depiction of how the anime industry not only treats those doing the work like shit, but that the people doing the work treat each other like shit all in an effort to get it finished on time. Saruta doesn't even check in on the woman lying dead in her apartment. Why would he? Her wellbeing after her job is done holds no significance to the end product now they can utilise her work. Oda at the end prying the finalised tape from the cold dead fingers of his colleague, he spends no time thinking about the fact he's dead because finally they've met the deadline. Could honestly switch out the Maromi episode and put in a JJK episode or MAPPA produced anime and it'd be a completely honest depiction of what happened during the production of their shows. Satoshi Kon was really ahead of the curb when it came to telling the world that anime production and the studios/execs behind it fucking suck

I totally forgot about this episode, so I'm totally theorizing here lol, seeing Saruta attacking the producer at the end with a bat (ironically, to take credit for delivering the episode) makes you think this weasel could've been the one who killed the entire team and is blaming it on Shounen Bat..! or he was actually possessed by Shounen Bat (?). Then he was the last victim of himself/Shounen Bat, where it could've just been the accident that took him out.. that's why shounen bat was so "fast" following the car, he wasn't fast, perhaps he was always there within him? god damn.
