I haven't seen anyone answer you yet, but this anime is a compilation of comedic short stories. This first episode is a good example of what to expect, it doesn't really offer much more storywise. While a few of the short stories build on each other, most of them are just bits and pieces here and there and do not tell you a coherent story from start till end. It's been a long time since I've watched this anime, but as I recall, it was quite enjoyable. However, humor is subjective, which is central in this anime, so nobody can tell you for sure that you will enjoy this show the same as they did.
