I just signed up recently to watch your One Piece manga reactions and don't know if you read comments here, but with flashbacks in the manga, Oda always makes the panels have a grey shadowing effect overlayed on the panels, or, has the panels surrounded in black. The speech bubbles with the lines coming off them always mean its a flashback. Also pay attention to characters that have speech bubbles "..." which happens often, it usually is a clue from Oda to tell the reader a character is thinking about what is being said but not showing their hand yet. Anyway, you might have figured that out by the time I wrote this, just love your reactions and as a fan hope that helps!
