At this current stage im thinking of sticking to official, just from the fact i only ever done official up to now.

wanna see what you’s say, and please dont just click on opscans because it apparently comes out first, if it’s actually the best then by all means click on it.

I personally prefer TCB because even if there’s a translation issue they explain it in postscript, the wording used in both official and op scans are generally really stilted and awkward, not a fan

Opscans literally garbage. Tcb is good, but some things are wrong and will affect your theories. Official is best especially when you want to deep dive through the chapter and get every bit of info out of it.

Tcb is good. The text box styles and fonts are the same as the official and the translation is 90-95% similar. Those scans are the ones most one piece streamers trust as well

It's def between tcb and the official, sometimes the tcb translations are a bit more detailed than the official and also includes translation notes on occasion, but the official is definitely a very cohesive reading experience and feels the most natural sounding, usually

Stick to the official and compare afterwards. Official is what it is. The best and closest one to the japanese version. There is no arguing about that. TCB might be better/easier to read - but whats the point with that when some things get lost or changed in translation just bc someone wanted to make it sound better? Sometimes its the little things that make the biggest differences. Seriously - make your own decision after comparing them and with what you feel most comfortable with. Whatever your decision will be - I suggest you don't skip the official one, tho.

TCB in my opinion looks as good as official and it comes out earlier. Also, all of the colour pages at the end of the chapter you see are from TCB.

OPscans scans can be a hit or miss because they always try to rush the scan to be the first to release it but translation wise it's almost the same like TCB. TCB is easier to understand while the official is more accurate to what Oda wants the dialog to say

IMO I think doing TCB would be the best simply because you’ll have a few days without worrying about spoilers coming out and more freedom to talk in the community. Also usually the Greiish color pages are on the TCB scans. But again nothing wrong with Official because that’s the most accurate for translations. Personally would I do is first read the OPScans on Wednesday so I don’t worry about spoilers, then reread both TCB and Official when they come out and compare them all. Most people in the community prefer reading TCB. Again it’s up to you Khan whatever you prefer.

Read tcb on Wednesday/Thursday, andthe official on Sunday. that's the best way with no downsides. You WILL get spoiled waiting till Sunday every week.

TCB is usually out Thursday-Saturday. Their translations almost always are more natural and smooth sounding than the officials. Reading TCB first, and then checking out the official later, you can’t go wrong. This way you get the joy of the weekly experience with the community, don’t risk spoilers, and still can read the official for accuracies sake.

Opscans is exactly what Oda is saying TCB is good but has a bit of fanboyism and agenda satisfaction Official is definitely the worse here with their "localization" just like any other media, they change the meaning to match their country's way of talking and behaving. They also make sentences way more complicated than they actually are, which you already realized through your reactions

Official has the most accurate translations. It may not "flow" the best but it is the most accurate in terms of being closest to the japanese. The official conveys what Oda is saying the best, which is the most important thing imo.It doesn't matter how much cooler TCB sounds if the words they are using are not at all what is said in the japanese.

The official is hands down the best, despite that I’d still say go for the scan groups just to minimise your chance of being spoiled. Plus if you read the official you may be able to at best read comments and interact on patreon for a day before spoilers are out for the next chapter. If you read scan groups you can do that for 3-4 days. TCB is the way to go.

I would suggest the tcb scans just because you can easily get spoiled between then and the time the official translation is released because there are plenty of content creators that put spoilers on their youtube thumbnails.

I'd say read opscans or tcb but then read official on your own time to get the proper perspective. There have been multiple occasions where tcb completely changed the meaning of certain moments.

i would say either official or opscans, and if you have trouble with some words you can check tcb for reference, i would definitely not recommend tcb on its own because in a lot of cases it changes the original meaning for it to achieve more casual wording, and that is the reason it is appealing to a lot of people.

I actually agree with this. From the comparisons I’ve made OPScans improved from when they first started a few months ago.

OPScans usually updates their art quality by the time TCB comes out, but it's tricky to know when they do that, hence you might end up reading in low quality if you don't wait long enough. If you want to ensure high quality art, no matter how quickly you read, then it has to be either TCB or Official. OPScans only started a few months ago, so they are still improving. You can always go on the link and check the quality.

TCB is much better than OPScans due to the translation, plus in terms of the wait its the middle ground between the two so its the best option imo 👌🏻

I read OPscans first just to cut down the risk of getting spoiled, translations arent the best to be honest, in your case i'd say TBC is the way to go if you want to have a more "proper" translation. Also regarding you trying to read comments in the future, the mods could provide screenshots of the comment section and obviously black out "hints/spoilers". This way you could still read comments without any worries.

I feel like either official or TCB would work. OPScans isn't terrible but it's significantly worse quality than the other two.

I am active in early spoiler/leak community since years. after redon drops the summary there isn't much misunderstanding anymore. Back in the days OPScans tried being ultra fast and had some errors. But nevertheless you should later on read the official translation because also TCB gets many things wrong. But nowadays OPS is by far the fastest and have minimized the errors. I cannot understand the TCB guys, its like living some months in the past. You can always check you info in TCB and Official later on. I read a comment above saying that TCB does Colorpages and that's also not that true. It's included because the artists have time to do it. But it's the artists who publish it on instagram/twitter etc.

Official: If you go with official you won't have a single day where you can comfortably discuss it, as by Sunday/Monday we already have leaks for the next chapter. I think you should go with one of the fan translations and read official later when it comes out. OPScans: I'd say OPScans is almost on the level of official in terms of accuracy, but they can lack art quality until the 2nd upload (which happens around TCB release). It's also harder to read, and more robotic than official and TCB. They are a new group, which only started a few months ago, so hopefully they'll improve. TCB: TCB is way easier to read than official, has really good art quality, and is easily the most readable translation since they use easier vocabulary and more simple sentences. It has many minor inaccuracies in every chapter, but It will obviously win the poll because people can't judge accuracy when they only read the English translations. They just pick what they like better. I'd either recommend going TCB, or waiting until OPScans can improve their art quality (usually close to TCB release), then going with that. Both should be around the same time in terms of release date.

depends what do you mean by best... for me I always go for opscans, because it being out the first makes it best for me... I don't care about worse scan quality as long as I can make out what's on the screen. gonna take worse scan quality and not 100% accurate translation > waiting 4 days every chapter

"OPscans is exactly what Oda is saying". True, it's a 1:1 mirror translation which sometimes makes it feel robotic as some things don't just translate from Japanese to English like that. I'd say Official delivers the actual meaning of what Oda is trying to say better. Although they use more complex sentence structures, I feel like it's closer to the original meaning than even OPScans. As for being westernized, I don't feel that at all. It was the case for previous Official OP manga translators, especially before Volume ~60, but not anymore IMO.

It's fine to read TCB, and you can still check sunday when the official comes out if there is any mistakes, which very very very rarely happens.

Not sure if you're still reading Khan but I honestly feel the safest way you can do things is to read the TCB release on Thursday/Friday, and talk with the community ONLY on the Weekend. If you try to talk on Monday or Tuesday the leaks and spoilers will already be out, and there is always an a**hole who will be trying to spoil things for you in comments or on Twitch. This is a needless risk when there will be mostly no spoilers out on the weekend, and the TCB releases are very good and what most manga readers read. ALWAYS read the official translation even if you read the other ones. Official has the most reliable translation, and isn't translated by people who have strong character biases. Fan scans often make mistakes while Viz only rarely has minor issues. The official scan has better quality (not resolution) as they get the digital version directly from Shueisha while fan scans have to scan magazine pages and then clean it up which leads to a loss of quality. As you're already reading official, I would advise sticking to it.

I Think TCB's translators are more experienced, which is why they always add interesting translation notes, and they are able to translate the way the characters actually speak like their accent's and stuff which Viz doesn't always do. Both make mistakes tho which is normal, I Vote TCB

Op scans have been gettin better and better.. tcb been doin a good job... I read all three versions, coz sometimes there are nuances that each translator interprets differetnly... for the past 3+ years, tcb has been the popular choice, but i would say if you wanna understand better then you should read all three versions and make a decision yourself...

Official translation is way higher quality, and of course the quality of the artwork is better too. But it's not like TCB is horrible. They get the job done at least. I'm more concerned that the longer you wait, the longer the chances is you'll get spoiled.

One of the nicer things about TCB is that they sometimes have author’s notes where they add all these little details on certain Japanese phrases/references. For example in Ch1062 when a certain group of individuals were introduced, TCB explained in detail their names and what it could be referencing. More importantly, if Khan chooses TCB, he will get more spoiler-free time to read comments and whatnot, which will make a huge difference.

I would say read tcbscans first and then read the official when it comes out to compare the difference and see which you prefer. From what I understand, majority of the community waits for tcbscans. But the official is the most accurate to the Japanese manga but it is still privy to some mistakes sometimes.

I completely agree. Seeing some of the official translations from Khan's reaction lessened hype around certain moments. Less smooth for sure. I think TCB does a good job at colloquially translating phrases in a more modern tone.
