When I was early into researching The DC Short last year, I thought Uffizi Holdings — and its founder Souper — would end up being a main character in the series. Its business model was murky, its stock price was questionable, and its disclosures were unvetted. As it turned out, the failures of Vanguard National Bank eclipsed its story in every conceivable way. The ensuing collapse of Uffizi Holdings ended up being a side story to Vanguard's far-reaching bankruptcy.

I always thought Uffizi's story was interesting in its own right. So here it is — a new video where Uffizi Holdings stars as the main character.

For full transparency, this video is sponsored by the book company Off Protocol (making it my first sponsored video), but I managed to negotiate a deal where I'm still able to release it for early access. The video won't be on early access for long though, and will be published tomorrow.

I hope you all enjoy the video!

I'm getting the vibes that all the scammy entrepreneurs in these games are adults, and all the government regulators are children!

I don’t—this is exactly how I imagine kids roleplaying business would behave. Souper is probably a tad more sophisticated than most, but he makes extraordinarily basic errors like forgetting that his acquisition targets actually need to continue running to be worth what he’s paying for them, or thinking that shares that he doesn’t own constitute assets on his balance sheet

Can I offer you some MLRRCBSGs with your tea, Sir?
