After posting yesterday's update, I wanted to confirm something with you all.  I know there is a lot of interest in the Suspension topic, but I get requests for tutorials on lots of other topics, too.  So my question is this:

Over the next few months, should TheDuchy:

As I am fairly new and still learning rope basics, with my partner who is new to this as well, we are not any where near to being ready for suspensions. But we do enjoy seeing the artism of it. The balanced approach would be greatly appreciated.

All the work you do is appreciated. Would like to see recommendations on full combinations. Like, for bed tie down. What kinds and types for different approaches. Waist tie for bed or bench, Chair tying. I understand all are usable but some ideas and what types of knot are best for different situations and combinations for such things. You know, sell the upper memberships to these.

I would consider myself reasonably adept at the basics after twelve months or so. I still feel a fair way from suspension, though it is something my wife and I will likely try in the future. In the meantime, material not purely focused on suspension would be my preference. Thank you for taking this poll to guide the direction of TheDuchy. 👍

I would also like a good chair tie down video thst leaves the legs open and accessible.

I would like to see a balance of suspension/non-suspension instructional rope videos. Non-suspension rope work is a good base to learn before suspending. Creating harnesses that don't pinch or slip when suspending, creating solid hip harnesses to hold and help with weight distribution, or how to tie a quick release single column tie on an ankle that does not slip mid-suspension. All these are good to learn before applying them to a suspension. Everyone is at different levels of learning, lets keep it simple and balanced for everyone.

I would like to see a balanced approach. Their are those, myself included, that may have the ability & skill to do suspensions but just have very little desire to do so.

Mark Saint

Balanced please, but another one interested in Tie Downs.

Kayla

I'm one of the few voices who prefers a focus on the suspension. There's very little full, all-encompassing online tutorials out there that begin on the basics of suspension, and I feel like TheDuchy would be one of the few places to get that information.

Vernon Smith

I understand that many prefer to focus on more non-suspension content in addition to suspension content. I disagree. Personally, I am comfortable with the level of difficulty in the floor ties detailed on the site. I have done just a few suspensions so far, and would really benefit from learning proper suspension technique and theory. As always, the content on TheDuchy is truly valued. I am looking forward to what it next, whatever that is!

Bit disappointed with the poll but I understand you have to cater to your audience. Perhaps you could host a follow up poll discussing what 'balanced content' involves. I'd still be very interested in suspension variants to on top of a 2 rope TK (non-suspension) and say 'how to attach down lines to futomonos (suspension).

OK, so the poll ended after a week and the results a pretty clear: 87% of those that voted would like me to balance my release schedule, releasing non-suspension tutorials as well as suspension tutorials. My normal release rate is a new tutorial every 2-3 weeks, so I will shoot for one suspension-related tutorial and one non-suspension tutorial each month until we get through the suspension material. Thank you all for voicing your opinion and helping to guide the growth of TheDuchy!
