I cant believe some (permawalled) creators would edit files individually & intentionally track their patrons, then make a spreadsheet with their info & attempt to dox them. This is a massive breach of trust 😕

Let me say that I would never track anyone.

Keep yourselves safe and dont support such creators😔
Beware of creators who make you message them for individual links instead of posting them on patreon. That is basically the way they can track cc.

I saw heard about it on Twitter and it’s scary.

The Sarah O.

Thank you for speaking up!! Some of these CC creators are scary but I’m so glad we don’t have to worry about that here 😭🖤🖤

Coco Doll

I don’t even know what that means lol but it’s crazy

Wendy Roos

What is wrong with people?

Ves

that’s terrifying!!

Heather Thompson

Wow that is just awful that they would do that :(

tipoual

Hi! Can someone explain to me what happened please?

So a few cc creators have been hiding trackers in their cc so that if you ever share them they will be able to see and they have been sharing peoples private info in a group and DOXXING them

There is a link to the reddit post in the last post (Bridgerton/Regency Era food and drink)

Espresso Goddess

This is beyond scary! I was subscribed to some of them that is on the list.

It is indeed crazy and wild! They get your email and then try to find out your real life info and post it publicly

Decoy Sims

thank you for making statement!!

PandyGirl

this is insane! I am glad that I only support for actual content in advance.. You ms icemunmun and turbodriver . everything else is just normal grab when it goes public :D I will never NOT try to get icemunmun's stuff in advanced ..

SaraiYah Yisrael

And this is why I will always support your work! ❤️

RSimmersLover

I am baffled at creators who think this is OK to do!! They are taking an environment that encourage creativity and turning it into something toxic. You are like my top favorite CC creators and I’m always happy to support, I can’t imagine not having your stuff in game.

cassie

Ugh....this is exactly why I don't like or trust people 😡

Alyssa Nagel

Thank you so much for letting us know, I hadn't heard about this. I've passed it along to my simming friends

gosia

Really?? Do you know who did it?

Misha's Sims

It’s like the tsr scandal all over again

Renee

I thought it was weird...and I wasn't even aware of what was really going on...I'm a patron of a creator who send files via message. Definitely gonna cancel once the month's over

TSR used to permawall certain CC. You had to be a subscriber to receive access to Featured Artist and Select Artist content. FA content was never released publicly, and it the creator had no say over what content was permawalled or made public. Everything is free on TSR now, but thats only because they had so many ads on the page while you cc shop.

I also send files via message ... I am shocked! I'd never ever even have an idea like this - neither the abilities! I have to cancel those messages, although they seem so useful! I myself get them from you, munmun, and others like Zero etc. I'd like to keep that actually ... Will you cancel your messages, munmun? (Please do not.)

You can cancel now and your since your month is already paid for this month and still have access, no?

icemunmun
>>82199779

I dont think everybody who sends individual personalized links are doing this. But you need to check whether the creator is someone who has been named in this mmater.

Hey..messages/mails which go out along with the patron post are auto setup by patreon itself! What is of concern is creators who send individualized/personalized/different links for patrons instead of posting the links in a patron post or attaching the files to patreon post itself. And not everybody who sends personalized email does this....I feel like most dont. its only a select few

True. It is just that I read somewhere that a Patron wanted to cancel all Creators that send messages (there was no hint what messages). I hope Patrons won't do that now everywhere ... you know ...

How do you check for the people doing this terrible stuff? I have a pretty short list of creators and the bulk of my mods are the best of the best. I only have a few random ones Ive gotten off of MTS. Sorry if this is supposed to be obvious or something. Ive been on a break for a bit and only started playing Sims again after a few months. It took a couple days to get my mods sorted and updated and it seems to work fine now. But now I’m just wondering. Has this been going on for a while and its only been recent it came to light? I’m thinking of removing some of my misc creator mods. Not sure if MTS has been victim to this kind of stuff as well. I wish you the best. You're absolutely one of the best modders and Inappreciate your work. Top three for sure. Pretty much all tied with the top spot in my book. Can't choose the best because you each have your own specialities. Take care.

For a creator to track you, they'd have to send you a direct link to their CC in which they've enabled tracking. It's a pretty specific group of creators and it raises questions about those who keep their content behind a permanent paywall. If you've downloaded directly from a post, you should be okay.
