Hello everyone! Firstly, happy holidays! Secondly, I have some bad news. Basically, I turned on my computer yesterday, launched all the AI software, and it crashed with a BSOD. I tried it several times, and the same thing happened. I tested the PC and concluded that the problem was RAM. Well, I think it's not a problem, I'll buy a new one.

I'm going to buy a new RAM kit. And I'm stunned by the prices. WTF just happened! Prices have tripled or quadrupled in a month? I'm not ready for that kind of spending yet($600+ for a more or less decent 64GB DDR5 RAM kit.) . I'm looking for options on the used RAM market.

I hope I can find something optimal. I'll keep you updated!

I recently found descent prices on DDR5 at Walmart, of all places. I had to build a smaller computer for our escape

Wait, ram or vram? Thats 2 different things. Ram is the sticks that went up in price, vram is in your gpu which is also expensive💀.

Very sorry computer is temporarily a brick. Hope you can fix it soon. Sadly the price of everything will just keep going up. 😐

MIght wan't to hurry up. Those preces apparently aren't going to get any better for a while.

Word is that ram prices are skyrocketing because AI data centers are devouring the supply faster than manufacturers can keep up.

For additional context: Sam Altman, OpenAI CEO, made a deal with SK Hynix and Samsung (Two out of three DRAM manufacturers) for 40% of the entire worlds supply for all of 2026. And then Micron exited the consumer market entirely. Even if the AI data-center building bubble pops today, we are looking at massively increased prices until 2027, but prices probably won't stabilize and go down until 2029. I wish you luck on finding a good second-hand kit.
