Maaa-haaaa....the French.... attorneys, with their stellar plumages in and out of the courtroom....it's none other than Aviary Attorney.

A game that for once I have not played and outside a 2 hour try out video I watched, but boy howdy ho am I just enamoured with the charm, the style, the aesthetic and the craft. Truly part of the demake for Aviary Attorney was how would one go about mimicking/adapting the art of JJ Grandville to 2bit pixel art. Dithering is quite akin to crosshatching, but then I pretty much didn't end up using it outside for Jayjay falcon! Doh!

Doing this demake mockup of Aviary Attorney makes me itch to do a full demake of the first case of Phoenix Wright (which funnily would be the fourth demake done of that but hey it's not one I did so...)

None the less, think I learnt a lot demaking Aviary Attorney, funnily the most was to use less, I really didn't use four colours, leaning more on three!

really impressed how you achieved the illustrated stippling look of the characters without straying from the GB limitations, delightful

Ahh stippling that's the other one I couldn't remember, the only one I could was crosshatching. And thank you kindly, pretty much the driving force for the demake was just how interesting it could be to try and replicate the style in pixel form. I've always wondered if pixel art was somehow able to have been done centuries ago, how each time period might apply their current art styles into pixels. Food for thought haha!

I'm loving the style and vibe of this!

Thank you! I love trying really different artstyles and seeing how games with such distinct styles could translate down to just 4 colours.
