Ahhhhh Mario and Donkey Kong, like Simon and Garfunkle, Hall & Oates, Turner Tango and Cash Hooch, Spongebob & Patrick...or Black mage 33 and 111 and Bobby Corwen.
(Hopefully that's a decently spread bunch of references to confuse all of age)

But yes, the 2004 GBA game I played once and then I watched a playthrough of the 2024 remake they did last year and overall, kind of all blurred together. I thought it'd be fun to mostly take cues from the remake because just the idea of a re-demake was fun.

Though I will say I really did try to do an odd blend of DK's design (done before the Mario Kart DK redesign thingamajiggy dropped) into where I tried to meld that classic DK look with just a dash of Rare's DK. Did I succeed, who can say, does his sprite form kind of look like (and this is highly specific to only British readers) a beano magazine? Maybe a little.

I did plan on adding buildings to the background in that top right level section but ahhh, time constraints. Have to soldier on forward!

Will have to plan my time much better for the Overcooked demake!
