May's Bedtime Story is called "Saru Kani Gassen" ("The Monkey-Crab War"). This one is so straight up odd that I took no liberties with it. I just translated, and read. The moral of the story being: monkeys are jerks. Maybe?

Also, I've been thinking that I want to send everyone something. No matter what your pledge, I want to send a little thank you. Lo and behold, while mulling over ideas, I discovered that there is actually a furikake (that stuff you sprinkle over rice to make it more yummy) called Saru Kani Gassen Furikake. I'm totally going to find that and send it out.  So keep your eyes on that. Postcards and envelops going out this week.

Wishing everyone well,

XOXO,

terrie

2026-09-06 01:00 I love furikake! Luckily it's been easier to find it around here. A few years ago I couldn't buy any japanese foods in Brazil, only in the Japanese quarter in São Paulo (and I live in Rio de Janeiro).

Me, too! When I still lived in the States I would eat rice JUST so I could put furikake on it. Then I came here and there are so many different kinds! Hopefully, those will make there way to you. ♪( ´θ`)
